Ask and You Shall Receive

First of all, there's still time to win a $25 Target gift card by asking me an awesome question.  Or a lame one, it's really up to you.  So.  Go do that, ok?

I've been having a really fun time sifting through them and trying to figure out how to answer them.

Nicole asked…
Who's on your laminated list? and I swear if you do not get this friends reference I cannot be friends with you.

At first, I was all "laminated list?" but then I realized it was a Friends reference and we were cool.  A laminated list, for those of you who are unfamiliar, is a list people (typically celebrities) for whom you would request a free pass.

Meaning, you would sleep with them if you got the chance.  This list is rough (meaning, I'm not sure I'd laminate).  Currently the top 5 in my head are (in no particular order):

Um, can my list end at 4??  I'm SURE I'm leaving off someone AWESOME.  I just... meh.

In reality?  I would never, EVER EVER sleep with a celebrity.  The thought makes me gag.  Even though I know not all male celebrities are scum, I don't think I would ever feel comfortable enough with them to go for it.  It gives my brain an STD just to think about it.  And there aren't enough condoms in the world for that.

Excellent question though.  Anybody got a suggestion for #5??  Who'd I miss?

Tara asked...

I don't know if ever asked you this- it's my go-to question for posts like this.. have you ever thrown up in public?

I don't think I would say I've thrown up in public.  I was an RA in college, and one of the responsibilities was, during senior week (the week after classes end but before graduation), we had to babysit the front desk of the dorms.

One night, all the awesome RAs played a combination of beer pong and liquor flip cup.   For several hours, in the hallway of the dorm.  Apparently, on the 3rd floor (my floor!), you could hear us screaming in the lobby.

At 7 am, my shift came to babysit the desk.   I felt fine, but 2 hours of sleep wasn't sufficient.  Neither was my empty stomach.  I may have barfed in the first floor toilets of the dorm.  At least twice.

But a dorm isn't exactly public, is it?

Also, playing drinking games with liquor is awesome.  Also, there is more to this story that would make an AMAZING post for another day.  MORE TO COME...

Unknown asked

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your days you'd choose what?

Dear Unknown, I'm sorry but I won't be able to give you a gift card.  Cause you're unknown like that.

If I had to eat one thing... gosh, this is TOUGH.  It'd be a Chinese dish, probably chicken or pork fried rice.  I could eat it a LOT.

If it had to be one dessert: vanilla ice cream with various toppings. Caramel and nonpareil sprinkles at the top of that list.  Trust.

Anon asked..

Did you ever get waxed?

Dear Anon, did you feel nervous that I would judge you because you asked about my good girl??

Cause I wouldn't and I totally wish I knew who you were.  Cause people who talk about good girls are basically AWESOME.

So, to recap, I asked everyone if there was a superior method of removing the hair from one's good girl.  I got a bunch of responses, all awesome.

And I've been waiting for a Groupon for the best waxing place in Indy to try it out... and there was one.  And I fell asleep before I bought it.

Amateur hour!  Next time I'm buying it - and I'm taking all of you with me.  PROMISE.

Megan M asked…

All-time favorite wine?

So, I've posted 16 different wine posts on this blog.  All of them somewhat awesome in their own way.

In reality?  I'm just not a wine connoisseur.  Like, at all.  I like them cheap and sweet.

So my favorite is probably Moscato, my most frequent one being the Barefoot Moscato.  Cheap, easy to drink, sweet.

Like I said... I'm not that sophisticated.

Jeanie asked…

I've noticed you buy a lot from Forever 21. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that's where you work. Would I be correct?

So, this question made me laugh out loud.  I know we all shop at different Forever21s, but I am OS far the opposite of the 5 foot nothing, 96 pound girl who works at the Forever21s where I shop.

So, no, I definitely do not work at Forever21.  And if you notice very closely, I typically ONLY shop Forever21 online.  I used to buy in the stores, but since I spend my days at the malls - Forever21 is the most stressful place on the planet.  The only thing I typically buy in-store is jewelry (or sunglasses if I leave mine at home that day).

I can't imagine working in such a loud, hot (is my store the only one that's ALWAYS a 100 degreess?) and messy.  Thank GOD I don't work there.  OMG.

Megan asked…

If money was no object, what clothing and shoe store would you shop in? And you talk about Mr. RH's new apartment, so does that mean you might be moving in there one of these days?

Ohh, the first part of this question is IMPOSSIBLE!  So, the 2nd... I am not planning on moving in with Mr. RH.  Since I'm Catholic (and living with my pretty-old-school-Catholic dad)... yeah, that's not probably going to happen.  Until after I jog both ways down the aisle.

As for the shopping... SO TOUGH.   I think that LOFT would probably be my choice for a clothing store.  I don't always love a ton of their stuff, but the quality is pretty good and I think they have a lot of variety in terms of style.  It's weird - as I get older, I gravitate towards more comfortable clothes and less glitz.  Am I getting old??

For shoes... this is tough.  I'm not a great shoe person, I've posted about it before - I have had a hard time buying shoes since my mom died.  I dunno what it is, but I just never know if I'm getting the right pair.  And shoe salespeople stress me out (except about running shoes).

So, for me, DSW would be my shoe pick.  You can't always find what you need... but I can usually find something that works for me. And this proves the fact that I am SO not a shoe label person.  Anything will do!

I think that was a LOT of words for some pretty simple questions, don't you?  Haha.  Who knew I had so much to say?!

Oh, everyone.  I get it.

Happy Monday!!

Online Shopping Sickness

Last week, there were a ton of great sales online. Naturally, I jumped on that train like white on rice.

I got a TON of new stuff for work - all kinds of black tops that can be dressed up, down, and sideways. It was perfect.

Then, last Friday, I found out that our work dress code is changing. To NOT include black.

Hahahahahahahaha not funny.

So now I have four huge boxes from different retailers that need returned.

Not that I'm any stranger to returning stuff... but this stuff was good! Cute! Reasonably priced (read: cheap!).

But no worries, I ordered plenty of unnecessary stuff from Forever21 so let's talk about that, shall we?

First up, this leopard print top. It's kinda hard to tell from the way I'm standing, but this top is hella unflattering. It's has what I believe may be called a slight dolman sleeve... but mostly, it just makes me look like a hunchback.

Next up, Double Disc Drop Earrings. I love these but they're huuge. Might cut off that bottom part to make them much smaller.
Gold Leaf Earrings. I picture this in some breezy Jennifer-Aniston-type outfit. Why? No idea.
Next up, the Metallic Flower Stretch Bracelet. I love it so much. It looks much more expensive than it was. Swooon.
These are a departure from what I might normally wear in jewelry... but it was fun so I had to go there. Stretch bow bracelet and bow rings (in two colors). No, I won't normally wear both rings and the bracelet on the same hand. But maybe I will.

I used my fav program, MS Paint, on this next pic to help you see the issue here. You see, this dress.... was constructed poorly. On a hill, perhaps. Either way, it's totally jacked up and not straight AT ALL. Return, pronto. (And yes, I know the length of this dress is probably ugly but Sarah likes to cover herself up and it seemed like a good idea at the time. I was drunk. Or not.)

Next up, Under the Sea necklace. I was hoping for a little more, but it's still cute. Either way, I'm stuck with it per the F21 jewelry return policy. As in, you can't return jewelry.

I need your help with this next one. I want to love the Strapless Knit Dress. It was less than $14 and it's just so easy... but. Does anybody want an easy strapless dress? Wouldn't you (and by you I mean me) prefer something with straps. It's got these weird fake boobs built in (see pic above for illustration). I dunno. I want to love... but really. Strapless? Ugh.

I thought this next dress was going to be the smash hit of the lot. Belted Jersey Knit Dress. It's ok. It's very orange (scary!). Eh, what do you think?

And last but not least, I really need your help here. Wild Printed Woven Dress. I love love am completely obsessed with this print. It's bright and fun but overall not too crazy. So - is it too short? Or am I just the most prude-ish person who shops at Forever21?

I make it a policy to NEVER show that much thigh, ever, except in a swimsuit... but I don't know. You be the jury. Short or too short?

That's all for today my lovelies... I'm too busy repacking all my black clothing orders into boxes and shipping them back.

Have a fabulous Tuesday!

Forever Wasting My Monies

Soo I think it's about that time again - time for me to blow over a $100 at Forever21 and have not that much to show for it, despite the fact that I received 29 items. 12 of which were the long tunic tank tops I blogged about before

So, Forever21 had a jewelry sale a while back (30% off all jewelry!) and it's not like I had any willpower to begin with...  unfortunately for us all, the F21 site is being 21 kinds of crazy this morning and I can't get to the items to link to them.  So you're just going to have to bug me on twitter if you neeeeed to purchase any of these here awesome items.  (So yeah, you're probably going to be just fine.)

First up, new skinny jeans!  I know everyone has great Gap skinnies or something like that... but this is my 3rd and 4th pair of $10.50 skinny jeans from F21 and I could not be happier.  My first pair need retired because they are almost 3 years old and are all faded and awesome.

I got one pair of the Dark Skinny Ankle Jeans for boot-tucking....

... and then the Fab Stitch Skinny Jean for everyday wear with flats/heels/whatever.  Unfortunately the regular pair still has a HORRIBLE gapping problem at the waist.  Or I just have to order 3 sizes up to fit my thighs.  Either/or.

Next up: shirts of shame.  So ugly I didn't even bother trying to make a photo of them look decent.  They're awful.  First, the Wild Lace Top.   So wild it's hideous.

And then the soft dolman sweater.  Dude, WTF is dolman and why won't it go the hell away?  It's heinous.
And it sucks because the sweater was really soft too.

And then... I decided my life needed more belts.  Lots of them.  And this is how I learned that not all XS/S belts are measured the same...

 See also: I like metallics.

Need another example of shiny love?  Metallic Animal Spot Scarf.  I'm so in love that I'm already devastated about the inevitable snagging that will ruin this scarf.

And then... there were accessories.  I have no clue why I decided I needed a brooch... but no worries, the Pearlescent Bow Brooch will be there when I need her.

This braided rhinestone bracelet is cute... but I know my boss would love it for Christmas.  Hard decisions....
I looove these Glittered Leopard Print Earrings, even if they are a teeny bit heavy.  My ears would be stretchy at the end of a work day, for sure... (gross!!)

But then I tried on these Beaded Teardrop Earrings and realized that if I ever jump into a body of water... these bad boys WILL drown me.  Look at THAT earlobe stretch.  (omg, I just barfed in my mouth.  Is this stretch talk making anyone else yak?)

Last but not least of the earrings... earring perfection: Rhinestone Teardrop Earrings.  Unlike most F21 earrings, they aren't huge, heavy, or cheap looking.  I have a feeling I am going to be wearing these a lot.

It might just be me, but there is something about Christmas-time that makes me crave headbands.  Maybe I just like the idea of wrapping myself up as a present, but I think that one can't wear enough festive headwear during the holidays, especially whilst working retail and working hard to keep a smile one one's face.

However, I think I missed the mark on this first one.  I bought 3 different colors.  In my defense, it was only $1.

Yes, that is my face of shame, thanks for asking.

 I sorry?

Fortunately, it wasn't all misses in the headwear department.  This Rhinestone Flower headband is AMAZING.

But not as amazing as the Rosette Headband.... it's light and airy and feels like nothing on my head.  If only it came in red...

Last but not least, the mac-daddy of my holiday headwear:  the Glittered Bow Headband.  So obnoxious it needs its own zip code (but in a good way).

As an update, yes I got my Kindle Fire yesterday.  It charged all day yesterday and I just started playing with it an hour ago.  Aaaand then came the technical difficulties.  We'll discuss more at a later date, yes?

Happy Tuesday, lovelies...

Greetings, Strangers. We've Had Dates.

It's been 5 days since I posted here. It feels like a lifetime.

Where have I been?

Well, working like crazy for one. For some reason things have been insanity at work and I feel like I am constantly sprinting to try and catch up.

Exciting, I know.

You were expecting me to say that I've been MIA because I'm joined-at-the-lips with Mr. RH, right?

Yeah, ok, some of that too.

So here's the thing. I have had so much fun writing about Mr. RH and our dates. I love love that I have a lot of little moments early in our relationship captured for all eternity.

(Holy crap, I just said relationship!)

But I feel like it's gonna get a bit boring from here on out. So, what'd you do yesterday? Oh, hung out, made out, .... and that's about it.

Date 6? Last Wednesday. We hung out at my house all day. I made him delicious fajitas and Mexican rice. Grabbed Panera, saw Bridesmaids (him for the first time), went for a walk which my ankles are still pissed about.

Date 7? Last Friday. Dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant and Friday-special $10 liter of margaritas. It's becoming a Friday night ritual. Swung by his apartment after, chatted for a couple of hours, zero scandalous activLinkities. Swear. (And I feel like you're reading that thinking that this is my sarcasm-voice but it's not. We were extremely well-behaved teenagers.)

Date 8? Saturday. We were supposed to watch fireworks after I got off work late but when I walked into the parking lot the wind was blowing like crazytown. I ended up heading to his apartment to wait out the storm. We chatted and had several serious conversations. A good night, even though our plans were ruined.

So here's what I'm trying to say: I think, at this point, it's gonna be pretty boring for everyone if I keep recapping each date. Much as I love how this requires zero thinking on my part, these date recaps are boring me to tears. Remember when I used to post about shopping at Forever21? And being lonely and drinking wine out of a sippy cup?

So, when Anything Happens with Mr. RH, trust me, you'll know about it. And I promise to give you any cute date recaps. But the next time we sit on the couch and watch Friends reruns... I'll feel free to skip that post.

For our collective sanity.

Oh, and because it keeps coming up, NO, Mr. RH does NOT know about my blog. I keep a pretty close eye on my stats and have no reason to think that he knows and hasn't told me, either.

Eventually, I feel like I am going to tell him.... but for now I like having it as my private little place for my eyes only.

My eyes and all of you strange internet people. Helloooo over there.

Well, how's that for a post about my big return to normal blogging? Are you tearing up from bored-ness?

On Boyfriends and Blogging

I've been "pretending to write stuff on the internet" for three and a half years now. (Blogging.) And if you count the amount of time before that in which I was considering starting a blog, it would be well over four years.

Four years!

I've kept my blog a little secret for lo these many years.  I don't post about it on facebook.  I don't tweet with my high school and college BFFs.  (Shout out to Maura and Katie, two girls from college who have super-sleuthed me out despite me pretending I don't write a blog.)

There are various reasons I don't tell anyone.  My job, for one.  Nobody wants to write "omg, I'm so exhausted from work" in an offhanded way and get fired.  Plus, I don't really need my coworkers to know about my innermost feelings or the state of My Good Girl.

Because despite the fact that I write freely about such things... I don't really need people I interact with on a daily basis to be well-versed on such topics.

So.  This blog has been a secret of mine for 4 years.  My ex knew about it in a vague way, although I honestly didn't rely on this blog so much when we were together.  It became my lifeline after he dumped my ass, I was unemployed, and everyone who I had ever met through blogging rallied around me.

(Side note: you guys are pretty awesome like that.)

My dad and brother both know I blog and yet neither give two craps about it.  They just laugh and mock me when I need to take a picture of something and tweet it.  Or if they are in a bad mood they tend to yell something along the lines of "If you so much as THINK about posting this on the internet I will disown you" or something like that.  Which is weird because they don't read my blog so HOW WOULD THEY EVEN KNOW?!

What I'm saying is: my blog is anonymous.  That is, I don't tell my friends about it.  My family.

Thing is, some of them have found it.  I'm proficient enough in internet-sleuthing to know that there are people I know who are reading... who don't know that I know they are reading.

Whoa.

I told Mr. RH, in a verrrry roundabout way, that I had a blog on one of our early dates.  Remember when I wrote this post, on June 1st, saying that I was kinda-sorta-maybe ready to start dating again?

And you ALL resoundingly cheered for me and rallied and told me that YES, I was ready and it was TIME.

Mr. RH asked me out less than 10 days later.  And, in talking about relationships, I told him that I would have never agreed to go out with him if not for... well, on this website that I write on sometimes... they all told me I should go out with him.  So I did.

And of course I told him that.  And he, being the genius that he is, put 2 and 2 together and came up with the word BLOG all on his own.  And I was all... "where did you learn that word?!" and acted innocent... but let's be real.

He knows I blog.  He accidentally stumbled on my twitter account when it was pulled up on my laptop.

Yesterday, I asked him to describe my style and he said... "Classy fab."

Cue mini panic attack/breakdown.  Because he clearly, out loud, identified the fact that he knows my twitter account.

Die die die die die die die die die die die.

Here's the thing: I think I write this blog pretty openly.  It's not earth-shattering stuff.  I write about missing my mom, about doubting myself, about stupid clothes from Forever21.  Those are all things that I would discuss with any random person who walked in off the street.

For four years, this blog has been my own personal Fight Club.  I thought about it, obsessed about it, spent hours working on it... but it never once got mentioned out loud.

Mr. RH wants to read it.  Not only because he is a huge English writing nerd, but because he wants to know more about me.  Weird, I know.

He has promised to give me my privacy.  I have diligently been obsessing over my stats and he hass not opened this site YET, of that I am 99.999% certain. Plus, he promised not to (until I give him the OK) and he is way better about keeping his promises than I am.

So.  The Boyfriend and the Blog.  Never the twain shall meet?

Please discuss.  (Or then I will have to admit that I wrote 797 words on boyfriends and blogging and NO ONE cares.)

Peplum.

As I've said before - when you publicly scorn a fashion trend, you are only 25 seconds away from discovering how awesome said fashion trend is.  I can say though, confidently, 9 months after I posted about the high-low trend (aka mulleting), I still don't like it.

That being said, I'm not positive I understand the peplum trend.

Peplum.  Is it pronounced pee-plumPep-plumPep-blum?  I've heard it pronounced each way and I'm not gonna lie - I generally avoid saying words I don't know how to pronounce... so you won't hear me talking about it!

So, what is peplum?  According to the dictionary, a peplum is a short overskirt attached to a shirt, jacket, or dress that typically flares right from the waist.

Ok then.

I head to my favorite website, Forever21, to scope out the peplum happenings.  Let me tell you, they are abundant.

My eyes popped over this dress because I loved the hot red hue... but then I realized the model is embarrassed of her weird waist pouf, which is why she is covering it with her hands.

Now, I like the idea of highlighting the waist.  It's actually my favorite body part.  However, I think, generally speaking, the peplum doesn't always fall at the right spot, leaving the best waist-enhancing spot behind.

Not sure if the chick above is making that face because of her peplum or because of her ugly shirt.

And last but not least... everybody needs a nautical-inspired peplum tube top.  It's just that category in one's wardrobe that nobody can have enough of.

Or something like that.

In a lot of ways, when I see someone in peplum, I think they are pregnant.  That little fake-skirt could be hiding the teensiest little baby bump, no problem.

Then again, if there's a baby in the bellah, wouldn't  you NOT want to choke your waist to death with that little cinch?

So, peplum.  Am I missing out?  Will my next purchase be a peplum dress with a side of extra peplum?

You be the judge.

LOST: My Mojo

Why hello there, I dropped off the planet.  Makes no sense, honestly, because as the tweets point out, there is a WEALTH of wedding-palooza related things I could talk about.

I could blame it on work (swamped, exhausted there) but it's been going fairly well.  When I'm there, I go 24/7 without stopping.  By the time I get home, I've got a sick Mr. RH and myself and we've made a fairly pathetic duo as of late.

Our Hunger Games DVD date has been postponed twice due to goodness knows what.  Our last two hot dates have been grocery shopping... which is quite exciting when you're shopping for two different households.  (OMG, I sound lame even to me.)

So, I think we need to cut off this blogger's block right here and end this post.  Remember when I begged y'all for help in dressing myself

Turns out that I wasn't even on the right page with my options... lo and behold, a $20 impulse buy at Forever21.com became quite chic with the right magical accessories.

My coworker and I were dates and we had a blast at the outdoor wedding.  So  much, in fact, that it's given me quite the pause in my big-Catholic-wedding plans.

If only for a second.

Anyway, maybe I'll find my way out of this funk soon.  If not... send booze and wedding magazines.

Christmas Goodies, Christmas Blues

So, the Christmas recap.

It wasn't a super-exciting year to be me - I mostly received clothes and a few jewelry items as gifts.

First up, my dad purchased several of the Forever21 items I blogged about last week. I ordered them, but he wrapped them and put them under the tree. Sad, but true.

Next up: a few shirts. I got the open cardi on the left from LOFT - it was on final clearance so it must have been a fall item, but I've been wearing it a ton since Christmas. The purple shirt is from Target and this was the one clothing gift that my dad went to the store and picked out in person. I'm so proud. The last item is a shrit from J.Crew that my cousin picked out for me. I don't think anyone outside my immediate family has purchased clothing for me since I was a kid... so I was surprised by this one! It's very pretty (and sheer! holla at my bra - in this pic and the purple one too!), but I am a bit leery of the color... I don't do nudes well! However, I'm wearing it tomorrow because it is pretty and I love the necklace detail. Go cousin go!

I also picked up these shoes for myself (from my dad) at TJ Maxx. I love wedges but I'm not so sure how I feel about the purple color. I love purple, but this one is a wee bit brighter than I'm used to... but I'll probably always wear them with neutrals so it's probably fine.

Next up, a couple jewelry picks. My aunt bought me the necklace below from LOFT. I wouldn't have picked it for myself but it's definitely my style and I can't wait to wear it!

My dad's side of the family picked out these earrings for me. I love the gold and I love the pretty filigree shape (is it a filigree shape? It sounds right to me but I have no idea.). They're from Banana Republic and I'm kinda obsessed with them. I have one teeny-tiny issue with them though... they're really kinda heavy. And I am kind of afraid of having my earlobes stretch and rip (it happened to a friend of a friend in college!). So I'm considering seeing if Banana will let them exchange them. (See, I'm HORRIBLE at receiving gifts!)

My brother bought me 2 books from Amazon.... obviously I gave him a list because I have been wanting these two for a while now. Reviews to come!

And that was pretty much my Christmas. I also got cash from a few family members, but to be honest I'll probably stick it in the bank and not spend it on anything fun. Although now that I think about it I should buy myself something special. Though I am still unemployed.... *sigh*.

The day after Christmas my dad, brother and I drove by the outlet mall.... obviously we stopped. Banana Republic Outlet was having a fabulous sale - 50% off EVERYTHING, including sale. I almost bought a few dressy, work-type tops.. but seeing as I'm unemployed, I refrained. I picked up a plain, black 3/4 sleeve sweater that I'll be wearing all the time to my mall job.

And then I picked up this cute short-sleeve teal sweater on the clearance rack. You can't tell from this pic but it has a fabulous little bow right at the bottom of the V-neck. I couldn't resist.

And then I made a mistake at the Gap Outlet. I passed up on a cute little cardigan I fell in love with. It's a elbow-length sleeve v-neck cardigan sweater in a t-shirt material. It's long and would cover my bootay if I was wearing leggings - and it's a cute gray color. It was full price for about $23 and so I thought I shouldn't buy it... but I've been lusting for it since the moment I left the outlets. (Anybody live near a GAP Outlet and wanna do me a favor???)

Anyway, I'm feeling a wee bit let down by Christmas this year. It was my first year as a single girl in, oh, 6 years... and knowing that there were no sparkly surprises awaiting me under another tree was sad.

And for some reason this year I was feeling very bratty and deprived. There were no electronic gadgets or fun toys to play with. I know that my dad tends to be much more conservative with his money (read: he's cheap) than my mom would have been.... and I dunno. I'm not really going anywhere with this other than I'm just kinda sad. It would have definitely meant a lot to me to get something unexpected and a little special this year. Maybe healed my broken heart a tiny bit.

Then again, probably not. Toys do not equal happiness, right? Duh.

Either way, Christmas lost some of its magic this year.

I know that I'm lucky and blessed - I had time with family and friends and plenty of cute clothes and jewelry under the tree.

Maybe I've just got a case of the Post-Christmas Blues this year.

Did you all have a fun Christmas? Lots of good gifts? I need some excitement - tell me about your goodies!!

This is It.

For real, I'm done with the questions. I mean... I truly enjoy answering them and chatting with everyone... but geesh 52 days of questions in a row is BORING.

So here we go.

The Branches
said...I've been looking for a cardigan for fall/winter. What is your favorite place to shop and is there a cardigan sweater you can't live without?

I love LOFT, TJ Maxx, Forever21, and H&M. I think H&M usually has a good mix of some plain-ish sweaters that work with lots of outfits.

However.

I have a bone to pick with the cardigan people. Why do you make freaking sweaters that stretch out and don't hold their shape?! For the love of all that is polyester does NOTHING hold shape?

Therefore, I don't have a favorite. And you can bet if I find one I'm gonna talk about it.

A "good" cardi, to me, has some synthetic materials in it because the 100% cotton ones just end up misshapen lumps. Hate that.

I wish I had a better answer to your question. But I don't.

Tamara said...Question...I'm looking for a cardigan w/pockets! Any ideas?? My office is FREEZING and makes cardigans pretty necessary and it'd be nice to have one w/pockets. I can't seem to find any though.
I have the exact same problem and no good answers. H&M usually has a few to choose from... but all my other cardis are random finds from TJ Maxx. Sorry Tamara. You should go shopping with Becky!! (See above question.)
Jennifer S. said... What is the easiest way to curl your hair? Curling iron, curlers, twisting around a straightener or some other great idea that i haven't heard?
I vote curling iron or foam rollers. I hate hot rollers cause they just yank my hair out of my head.

I hate the straightener-curl. I know lots of girls have cute looks with this but it's hideous on me. Hate.

The key to curls (on this fine-haired girl) is product. I use spray gel if I'm using foam rollers or hairspray with a curling iron. It just helps hold the curl so much better. So much.

I met Brian McKnight in an elevator once in Indy. That's it, I think.

Oh and I "met" Regis from about 10 feet away at a Notre Dame football game. He said he liked my t-shirt. Can't find the t-shirt but it was cute.
Amber @ A Little Pink in the Cornfields said...What would be your theme song if you had to have one?
Hero by Mariah Carey. I don't even like it anymore... but it's always been my favorite. Has been since fourth grade.
Blogger Kate (Southern-Belle-Simple) said...how are you settling in to your new place? do you find it hard to make a new living space feel like home? sorry that was 2 questions!
Not settling in well at all! I'm a moving disaster. Lord help me if I ever have to move more than 200 miles. I'm gonna be a wreck.

And I don't particularly stress about feeling "like home." Home is where my stuff and my people are. But mostly my stuff.

Hey, you all know I love my products. Don't judge.
megan. said... What's your favorite thing about yourself?? And what's something un-ordinary that you like to eat? (I like cinnamon ice cream with peanut butter--amazing.)
I like my sense of humor. I can always make people laugh and feel comfortable.

I don't really eat anything un-ordinary. I freeze apple sauce to make apple sauce popsicles, is that weird? (It's healthier than the sugar water I love so... yeah, I don't think it's weird at all.)

I think for me - the thing about my eating is the quantity or volume. I eat a lot.

Blogger Princess Aurora said...I want to know what is one thing you miss from your teenage years. Clothing item, Makeup, Shoes... whatever!

My metabolism. Would you believe that I started eating a bowl of ice cream a night in about the 7th grade because I couldn't find pants long enough with such a small waist?

Yeah, I hate myself too. And don't worry, the ice cream has since caught up to me. Along with bad eating habits.

I also miss a kick-ass pair of leopard print pumps. I wore them constantly in high school. Unfortunately, I broke them my freshman year of college walking into work. It was a sad day. (I cried later that night, about the shoes. Not kidding.)

Blogger Sarah said...I know you are an avid reader....but I'm going to force you to pick a favorite. My question is: what are your favorite fiction and non-fiction books??
My favorite book is Tuesdays with Morrie, which I believe is non-fiction.

I used to think my fav fiction book was Confessions of an Ex-Girlfriend... but to be honest I bet it's been 4+ years since I've read it. So.... I don't have a favorite.

I'm borderline obsessed with Kelly Corrigan's book The Middle Place, also a non-fiction book. If you haven't read it, please please do. It's amazing. I laughed and I cried. (I just ordered her new book, Lift. Don't worry, I'll get you all the full review asap.)

Basically, I've never met a book I didn't like. Except ones without hearts. Those I can do without.

Blogger Melissa said...What are your absolute favorite pair of pants? Like "would-absolutely-die-if-they-were-in-a-suitcase-that-an-airline-lost" favorite pair of pants.
I don't think I have a pair. I love the more-expensive line (maybe called Luxury Stretch??) Express Editor pants. But I'd more likely die if the airplane lost my toiletries. I have very sensitive skin and that stuff takes time and effort to replace!

Blogger KatiePerk said...My hair needs help. It is huge! Which movie star would you want to play you in a story about your life?
No help on the hair. I am of the fine-haired variety and such hugeness is my envy every day.

And obviously I want Heidi Klum to play me in the movie of my life. I know she's not an actress... but who doesn't want to be a hot blonde supermodel, really?

And we survived Q&A. Exhale.

And if I survive work tonight... I'm off for a week. Praise the lord.

Happy Tuesday!

Just a Dolla to the Internet Movie Database, IMdB.

Yesterday was just like any normal day.... I had a day off, so I revolved my life around Mr. RH's schedule for the day.  Considering my schedule is all over the place, I figured it was the least I could do.

Around 1:30, he was supposed to be in class, but, SURPRISE, out early, blah blah blah. So instead of staying home like a good girl and taking pictures of All The New Clothes for the loyal subjects here at Classy & Fabulous, I jumped in my car like whoa.

So, 45 minutes later when my phone rang (unknown number), I was all, "oh, I'm far too important to answer my phone, I leave that to my virtual assistant (voicemail)."  And didn't check the messages cause I'm badass like that.

Fast forward 3.5 hours and Mr. RH and I find ourselves at the Meijer checkout with ice cream and a chicken.  I swipe my credit card and it's declined.  I inform Mr. RH that since I work retail and I know these things that I probably swiped it wrong.  Nope, declined again.

And like the crack detective that I am, I stage whisper/yell "THE VOICEMAIL.  Oh god, someone stole my credit card wtf am I going to do shit shit mother of pearl."

And Mr. RH is all normal-like and calm and says, here, let's pay cash and go listen to the voicemail.

The voice of reason, that one is.

We're barley in the parking lot before a man in broken English informs me that there have been some recent suspicious charges and they want to talk to me.

I put off calling for an hour, ate some chicken and pulled up my account on the internet.

The sweet lady on the phone is all....

"Vera Bradley Outlet Sale, $200."

"Forever21.com, $151"

"Umm... no, those are all mine."

The shame burns on my face, but I will not be deterred.

"The only thing I don't know is a $1 pending transaction to IMdB.  I'm trying to figure out what those initials might stand for but.... yeah, I don't think that's mine."

In my mind I am trying to figure out if I would spend $1 to the internet movie database... but that seems far-fetched, so I don't mention it.

Long story short, Chase Freedom fraud protection is amazing.  The fact that I make, ahem, dozens of online transactions a month and that a $1 "tester" transactions set off their radar... damn.  I'm seriously impressed, plus the people on the phone were SO so so nice.

However, I have one teeeny little problem.  And by teeny I mean at least $200.  I got a couple dresses I looved online in 3 different sizes.... aaand now I can't really return them.  Because my account is closed.  And I was going to return them on Friday because I'm working at Castleton mall for the day, which, for you non-Hoosiers, has All The Stores.

So.  I'm now stuck with multiples of the same dress cause of my own online shopping madness.  I kind of deserved this, right?

Although, in my defense, who makes sizing so damn inconsistent that I could wear anything between a size 2 and a size 10?  Honestly, that just makes no sense.  Isn't it all based on inches (and vanity, duh)?

Not to mention... if you want me to shop in store, give me a damn store!!  Podunk, Indiana has fewer stores that I consider appropriate.

Anyway.

I got my credit card stolen for the second time and lived to tell about it.  Hot damn, if that doesn't deserve ice cream for breakfast I don't know what does.

Hey Everybody! Come See How Good I Look!!

We interrupt this whiny monologue about my life for greener pastures. Like a cute new blog design and CLOTHES.

A month or so ago I was perusing my Google Reader when I came across a post from the adorable Miss Sweet Simplicity.

A month or so ago she posted about her new design, which she did herself.

So I left her a comment saying "OMG, love your blog design! You are super talented! Open your design business - I'll be your first customer. Not even kidding!"

And she left me a comment saying "Heh thanks creepy fangirl... your blog is cute too!*"

But then a few days ago she sent me an e-mail and asked if I was up for it - so I jumped at the chance. Yes, I have blog ADD.

So she sent me a list of questions that would help her pick out a design.

Colors? I like pink. And gray. I like other colors too. But not poop brown - I hate that color.
Fonts? You know, I like swirly fonts. But not too swirly.
Dislikes? Green, things that are not classy or fabulous.
Ideas? You know, something classy. And fabulous.

That's basically what I sent her. It's a miracle she had any ideas at all! What can I say - clearly I'm difficult.

So if you can't remember my old look, it was this:
It was cute, I loved it - but apparently Blog ADD prevailed.

Tell Lindsey how amazing the new layout looks. You know you want to!

*Liberties may have been taken with Lindsey's replies.

----------------------------------------------

So last night I found out that Forever21 has a free shipping offer and an offer for 10% off your order with the code "HOLIDAY" so I decdied I needed some new stuff. $100 later I have a cart full of cute stuff!

But I always see other bloggers with these amazing, fun F21 finds so I'm asking you - have you found anything cute at F21 lately? Seriously, I wanna know! My wardrobe needs spicing and I am counting on you to find me something cute! I picked out a top last night and tweeted about it and everybody hated it.

So comment to me with your favorite F21 pick right now. I'll order it and totally give you credit!

Here's what's in my cart so far:

Cable Sweater Tunic, $27.80

V-Necked Striped Cardigan, $14.50. I ordered something similar on Black Friday but I think I want to size up so I can wear it with leggings.
Crochet Sweater Tunic, $24.80. In case the first tunic I picked out is ugly or doesn't fit.
Katy Knit Tunic, $19.80. I just liked the color and the flowers on the bust of this. They don't have a small, which is what I usually order in a tank... I'm still on the fence. Plus I'm not a huge fan of tops with banded bottoms. This one might not get ordered after all... but I need a few cute tanks as layering tops. Suggestions??

Fab Cheetah Skinny Belt, $2.50. Seriously can't wait to wear this.
Braided Loop Skinny Belt, $3.80.
Ok ladies.

Tell me how good I look (my blog, I mean) (if you feel like it).

And then tell me what to buy. I'm feeling style-istically challenged.

Happy Th
