Confession: My closet is where stuff goes to die.
I used to organize my closet by color and season. It was a work of art.
Now? The ten pieces of clothing I wear on a regular basis usually don't even make it to the closet (they hang out on my drying rack, duh!). The rest of the stuff? I don't even know.
It's just clothes. Nice clothes, expensive-ish clothes. Clothes I don't wear.
So since it currently is looking like this outside:Snowy, with more snow on the way. And then some more.
I think it's high time I spent quality time here:
Cue scary music.
The funny thing is... that picture doesn't look so bad to me. Clearly it was a trick of the light making it look like I have room to hang one more item in there.
Make me feel better - tell me I'm not the only one who has a closet that gives them grief every time they look in it.
And why is it SO damn hard to get rid of clothes I haven't worn in at least 2 years? Especially since we all know that none of them even fit anymore!
If you don't hear from me soon.... send search & rescue. I got lost somewhere between college t-shirts and 500 button-down shirts.

Closet Insanity

Just Keep Swimming
First off, let me say that the sleep gods have cursed me AGAIN. Anybody want to wake up at 5:15 for absolutely no reason? Yeah, me either!
----------------------------------------
I spent my whole day yesterday under a pile of clothes. Have I mentioned that closet organizing is NOT FUN? Cause it's not.
I have decided that my summer clothes shall be rotated out of my closet into a tall laundry hamper/basket I bought yesterday. I liked the idea of space saver bags and bins, but I still occasionally wear some of these tops so I want to be able to get in there if I want to. Maybe I'll take a pics of the other shelves and stuff I've got going in my closet... but not today. I've still got a lot of work to do!
----------------------------------------
Have you guys started your Christmas shopping yet? Even though it's only November 12th, it starting to freak me out.
Since my mom died, I have done all the shopping for our family - which I love. What freaks me out is that I have a pretty huge extended family. I need lots of ideas for lots of people.
So what I want to know is this - do you make a detailed list of the items you are looking for for each person? Or do you just head to the stores and keep a certain person in mind?
Have you even started shopping yet? Spill it sisters, I need tips!
Have a fabulous Thursday everyone!

Closet Intervention
Recently, I have been inspired. I have been inspired to clean up my act.
Or at least my closet.
You see, I love my stuff. Clothes, new underwear, shoes, beauty products... you name it, I've got it. Seriously.
So when I arrived home from college with, um, more junk than I knew what to do with... I knew things had to change.
How did I know?
First sign: See that shelf in the closet? See how it is attached to the closet rod via some type of white bracket thing?? (And please, ignore the "Dusty Rose" carpet. It was 1994 and I guess I wanted pink carpet?)
Ok good. Well, one day not so long ago, when I wasn't home, my brother awoke to what he thought was an attempted break-in. But it wasn't a break in. It was the weight of my clothing on the hanging rod pulling down the entire contents of the shelf above, which at the time included about 52-bajillion scrapbooked baby books and my entire life's worth of hardback yearbooks. Oops.
So I recently set about to sort through the clothes and purge the clothes from the 7th grade.
I honestly refuse to post a before picture because I couldn't even fit all the clothes in the closet.
But the after picture? 'Tis lovely (at least to me).
From left to right I've got sweatshirts/jackets, followed by shirts organized by color, followed by pants, followed by skirts, followed by dresses. Perfection, I tell you.
Now if only I could find a way to fit an additional three or four dozen pairs of shoes in there, I'd be set.
Work for another day, I suppose...
