Woof.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

I know I whined on Friday about my rough work week... but ugh. I worked Saturday and Sunday and... woof.

I got home around 11 last night (yep, on a Sunday night)... and worked some more on schedules until midnight.

Went to bed, sure that I would collapse from exhaustion.

You know where this is going, right?

I did fall asleep after a long while... maybe 45 minutes of tossing and turning.

And.... I woke up at 3:45 am.

Tossed and turned (lather, rinse, repeat) until about 5:30 when I decided I needed to get up and work. On work - the real job work kind of work... not fun work like reading and writing blog posts.

So, this schedule I've been working and working and working on?

Totally craptastic. I am working 6 days next week. 6 long days.

I get to fill in for one of my co-managers that stepped down due to "stress" and train someone else to take her position.

And did I mention that one of those nights I'll be working until midnight?

So I'm sitting here and I know that I should be freaking out. There is SO MUCH overwhelming stuff going on that I feel like I want to cry... but then, I don't.

Because I'm a helluva lot stronger and a much harder worker than I thought I was.

Although... if I wake up tomorrow (on my day off!) and this weeklong sore throat turns into a full blown cold.... well.... I might rethink that last sentence.

Any and all good vibes are appreciated today. Cause all of a sudden I feel like a good cry might be a good thing.

Anybody else having a rough Monday? Wanna b*tch it out? Leave me a comment and I'll reply with something to make you feel better.

(Technically, is something simply saying "You and me both, sister"? Cause that's about all I've got these days...)

Happy(ish) Monday, Lovelies!

(And P.S. I'm posting about an AMAZING drugstore mascara at Chic Critique. Seriously, it's amazing.)

My Closet Overflows

First of all,

Happy Veteran's Day!

Don't forget to thank the veterans in your life today.

Next, I think I taunted the Sleep Gods yesterday. I woke up at 4 AM today and could not get back to sleep. Figures.

---------------------------------------------

Also, I'd like to thank all of you for your sweet comments yesterday - I thought they were rather hilarious.

On that note, I replied to all of you who have your e-mail address automatically stored in blogger. If you didn't get a response yesterday, it's because I get the dreaded "noreply@blogger.com" when I try to reply to you. So if you did NOT get a reply from me, go read this post by Sweet Simplicity and change your settings. Pretty please?

---------------------------------------------

So, yesterday I began my Great Closet Clean-out 2009. I took everything out and laid it on my bed.

And then I managed to go through all my jeans, my dresses, and a lot of my favorite tank tops. And that's about as far as I got.

Half of that pile is currently living on my bedroom floor. Awesome.

Typically, I have never had to "winterize" my wardrobe - I usually had a big enough closet to just shove the summer clothes into the back of my closet.

But this year I've got a downsized closet. And winterizing I must do.

How do you store your winter clothes? In a plastic bin? In something else? Do spill!

And as far as sweaters - the ones I'm pulling out of my closet - how do you store those? I used to hang them but they end up stretching out at the shoulders and not fitting well anymore.

So tell me your closet habits - I need tips! My closet needs your help!

Have a fabulous Wednesday everyone!

Sleep is for the Weak

Ok, today I'm thinking about sleep. Specifically, how difficult it is for me to have good sleep.

First off, I am NOT a good sleeper. I sleep very lightly. Even in our (former) big house, the front door opening and closing was enough to wake me up. From a floor away.

There are a few things I require before sleep is even an option. (Wow, I'm high maintenance.)

  • Smooth, cool sheets. None of this flannel or jersey nonsense. Just plain cotton.
  • A cool pillow. Nothing ruins my ability to sleep faster than a warm pillow. My face gets too hot and I seriously can't sleep. (Re: high maintenance)
  • Usually, 2 blankets on the bed. I like a thin, woven-type blanket on top of the flat sheet, followed by a comforter. We keep our house pretty cool in the winter to save energy and I like the flexibility of having 2 blankets on the bed in case I get hot or cold.
  • Darkness. I have friends who could sleep on my kitchen floor while I'm baking cookies. I am not one of those people. Ideally, the room I'm sleeping in has blinds covered by curtains. If I can see stuff I end up with my mind churning and thinking... don't ask.
  • Bedtime routine. Before bed, I have to read. I always have a semi-trashy girly novel next to my bed to help me unwind. If I don't do this it takes me hours to fall asleep. Not good.
  • And last but not least, I have to have a fan running. Ceiling fan or other type of fan - it doesn't matter. But having a fan helps me tune out the little noises that would definitely keep me up at night. It gives me a blank canvas of noise to help me tune out my day.
Even when I make all of the provisions above, I STILL find it difficult to sleep. I'm an anxious person by nature and being overtired probably makes it even harder for me to sleep.

The nights before weddings and other important events, I stare at the ceiling all.night.long. I discovered while traveling once that taking a Tylenol PM or some other PM product can help "take the edge off" my sleep anxiety and help me sleep in strange places.

Oh yeah, that's another thing - I can't sleep in a new place for the first night. So when I travel, I am usually up for more than 48 hours straight before I sleep. Makes me a real gem to travel with, I tell you.

So I've made plenty of sleep confessions for you to mock me for. What's the weirdest thing?

Are you a good sleeper? A bad sleeper? A light sleeper? Do you sleep a lot? I wanna know!
