The Paper Anniversary Trip

Almost three weeks ago now, Mr. RH and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary!  It came and went so damn fast, and that was after the solid 2+ months of agonizing over what would be special enough to celebrate such a lovely (LONG - and yet short!) year of marriage.

We thought about going to Chicago, where we celebrated our engagement.  Then maybe we were sick of Chicago - how about St. Louis, or a trip to IKEA for the wife... for some reason, Mr. RH wasn't into all that.  Weird.

So after much googling, I decided that we would really enjoy a trip to French Lick, Indiana, to the gorgeous and romantic West Baden Springs Hotel.  It's a gorgeous, old historic hotel that's been completely renovated and updated... and we were so excited to check it out.

Of course, 3.5 hours into our little road trip and a million construction cones later... we were both pretty dang cranky by the time we arrived.

As soon as we got into the hotel, though, we were both blown away.  The hotel encircles the main lobby, which is a giant, domed atrium straight out of a movie set.

Fancy shmancy.

I, being the village idiot, decided a room that wasn't overlooking the atrium would be oh-so-much better than the atrium views - because you could overlook the giant property, gardens, etc.  FOOL.  Those rooms with balconies overlooking the main lobby are where it's at.  Sigh, perhaps when we return.

We took ourselves on a tour around the property, gardens, and read up on the history of the resort.  I could literally go into it, cause it was fascinating, but I'll spare you.  Needless to say - super cool place, lots of history, almost spooky cause it was very quiet and the place was quite the roaring establishment in the early 1900s.

Of course, there were many selfies.... (ok, like... maybe 4 all weekend).

And I forced tortured blessed my husband with many requests to smile for a picture.  Or not, I basically just snapped away at my pleasure.

And - is it sad that this is one of my highlights of the weekend? - my cute husband snapped a pic of me that's in focus!!  On the fancy camera.  I have hope that my future children or grandchildren will someday know that I existed in a tangible way.

I mean, I may have a slightly bitchy look on my face, but that's mostly because every other pic that my darling husband snapped was of my boobs.  Cute.  Not.

Of course, time flew and it was time for us to head to the nearby French Lick resort for a fancy-shmancy dinner.  Cinderella put on her finest shoes.... my wedding shoes.  I was so happy to see them again, although I don't remember them hurting like this last year.

 Apologies for the foot selfie.

I must say - last year I wore the shoes for a few hours every day for about a week leading up to the wedding.  It must have worked!

I dolled myself up extra-fancy and spent forever on my hair and makeup... which I would like to document in this lovely selfie... which I will entitle "Do You Know How Difficult It Is to Selfie in a Strapless Dress Without Looking Nude?"

Very. Difficult.  Hence the lovely background, sorry.

Two minutes after that lovely photo, the surprise September Summer we are having in Indiana reared it's ugly, humid head, and left me with what you see below.  You win some, you lose some.  At least my hair looked good last September.

The property that was bustling with tourist-y types earlier was surprisingly vacant when it came to photo-snapping time, much to my everlasting disappointment.  Selfie it is.

We went to the adjoining property's "award-winning" steakhouse, which  is to say - it was a very fancy hotel, a nice steakhouse, but kinda lacking in ambiance for such a lovely, historic property.

  •  My pork something-or-other was maybe one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten, but things went semi-downhill from there.   We had a waiter and another, random attendant... who basically disappeared when they delivered our check.  Seriously, we tried to pay the bill for 15 minutes with no luck.  There was a place to write our room number in to bill it there, and we eventually did - but I wonder what would have happened if we just walked out.  Luckily, we paid.
  • They brought us chocolate-covered strawberries for our anniversary, which I could barely enjoy because my dress was quite corseted.
  • They deliver a rose at the end of your meal and I was happy to report that my wedding-day nail polish (Essie's Head Mistress) still matches a red rose quite exactly.  I was embarrassed to snap a pic at such a swanky table early in the meal - but after they started ignoring us, I just decided to go for it.

We returned to our hotel as the sun was setting, and sat in the lobby and soaked it up.  There was a lady playing the piano, and maybe a cellist.

We watched the ceiling do it's swanky thing, which totally explained the abundance of chaise lounges in the place.  We sat in chairs and were totally, awkwardly bent staring at the ceiling... like most everyone else in the place.

I am still kicking myself for not going through with my original "paper anniversary" plan of hiring a local photographer to do a little mini-session on the gorgeous grounds of the hotel.  Cause that would have been AMAZING, no?

And... photos can be printed on paper, which would satisfy the paper anniversary requirement, no?  Luckily, we snagged some postcards of the hotel - done.

The question remains - do I want to come back with my husband?.... or would this make an even better place to meet some girlfriends for the weekend?  Cause I know they would really appreciate my photo-shooting ways.  And the gorgeous spa.

#SBwed: 1 Year

Ahhhh. I've had a couple of posts in draft for weeks, but I honestly haven't even been able to post them because this post has been in the back of my mind, taunting me.  How can I wrap up the first 365 days of marriage in a neat little bow?

Well, I'm not sure I can.

Is marriage exactly what I expected on September 20th of last year?  Heck no.

Am I exactly the same person I was on September 21st of last year?  Definitely not.

For starters, I can't recall the last time I dolled myself up like this!

Marriage has been a study in contrasts.

Prior to today, I can't recall being so angry at someone and then SO happy to see a smile cross his face.  (When I'm angry, I try to tell him to NOT look at me, because I hate to lose all that righteous indignation with one grin!)

Poor Mr. RH has learned a LOT about his new bride: like the fact that the most type-A among us could call her a slob, even though she's never dirty.  She will lose her damn mind if you leave a dish in the sink.  Don't touch her kindle or she will wreck you. She will also flip out if you use her toothbrush, even accidentally!  No, she's not just relieved that you brushed your teeth.  Ick, gross.  She cries for no reason.... sometimes, even because she feels like crying.  She will eat slices of cheese for dinner and can't possibly understand the problem with that.  She thinks it's OK to skip washing your hair for days on end if it looks good.  DEAL WITH IT.

I'm sorry, I feel like that was a tangent.

Marriage.  It's really effing hard, but it makes me laugh SO much harder than I've ever laughed.  It's a doozy, but one I would repeat a hundred times again - but only with the right guy.

Happy Anniversary, Mr. RH!  If I knew how great our lives together were going to turn out when I met you shopping for cologne, I for sure wouldn't have tried to pass you off onto my coworker.

Love you.

#SBwed: Month 11

So - I'm only posting this 2 weeks after my last update, because blogging when it's warm outside is hard, but - it's been a really fun couple of weeks!

Highs
  • We just got back form over a week away with my family... we drove from Indy to Hot Springs, Arkansas for a little R&R on a lake.  It. was. fabulous.
  • Spending a lot of time in the sun while enjoying a wonderful break in the heat/humidity of the south.
  • Finally getting a little summer tan.  This has nothing to do with Mr. RH, but I was just excited about it.  Ahh, summer.
  • It's been a happy month, marriage-wise.  It's amazing how you think you know someone, you get married and move in together, and then you learn SO much more.  Kinda crazy.
  • (Yes, I'm becoming deep and wise as an 11-month marriage veteran.)  (Wax on, wax off.)
  • Even though we've had a fun, splurge-y month or two - we got a student loan paid off.  Sacrificing my Target once and a while actually pays off.  :)

Lows

  • Spending 12 hours in the car.  Depending on which mapquest/google map/GPS/atlas you used - the drive was anywhere from 9-12 hours.  And on the way home, it was definitely 12 hours.  #WOOF
  • Getting used to a long vacation of eating and boozing and relaxing makes it that much harder to get back to reality.
  • Unlike our Michigan vacation last month, THERE WAS NO ICE CREAM.  I mean, at least if I'm going to eat like crap, let me eat like crap in a delicious fashion, please?

#SBwed: Month 10

I mean... let's just ignore the fact that this is 3 weeks late.  AKA we are closer to month 11 than month 10.  WHATEVER.

Highs
  • The weather is warm!  Sun is shining!  And yet... it's been weirdly cold.  Like - we've had multiple days this month that we can open the windows until at least noon because it's so chilly.
  • RH family vacation!   This technically happened just past the 10 month mark, but we are so boring that I'm putting it on this month.  We went with the RH family up to South Haven, Michigan for a couple of days at the end of July.  The weather was chilly, so the beach wasn't SO fun (more like SO cold) - but it was perfect weather for strolling and hanging out.
  • Spending quality time with the RH family.  They all live within an hour or so from us, but it's hard to get the gang together.  It was nice to relax and unwind with no agenda.
  • Vacation food.  Which, on this particular vacation, was ICE CREAM.  Mr. RH is typically not ice cream's biggest fan, but he had a change of heart on this vacation.  Praise the Lord.  See the blueberry ice cream below.  #yum
  • If you are ever in South Haven, MI, you MUST divert yourself from the beach to head to Sherman's Ice Cream. Yes, it's located on the side of the highway, but it's literally the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. DO IT.

Lows
  • Vacation with 18 people.  Do you know how hard it is to find restaurants for 18 people?  Cause it's WAY hard.  We had a few disastrous incidents on the trip, but overall it was SO fun.  Totally worth it!
  • Detoxing from vacation food.  I love a good salad but eating like a bird blows.  Know what else blows?  The fact that My Fitness Pal says my husband can eat TWICE as many calories as me in one day.  Asshole.
  • Why isn't every day vacation?

#SBwed: Month 9

Highs
  • Son of a monkey, this month went too dang fast.  Which is good and bad, I guess?  I'm starting to feel guilty because we have been SO terrible at documenting the days and months making up our first year of marriage.  The days are short, the years are long, and I don't have really any pictures of either.  #BloggerFail
  • Mr. RH turned 25, once again reminding me that I robbed the cradle.  The next few months before my birthday in October are my favorite - because we are closer in age so therefore I feel young.  Right.  Exactly.
  •  Eating a rainbow birthday cake like it's my job.

Lows
  •  The onset of warmer weather has brought the onset of hotter tempers in our house.  For about a week after it got warm, I think we argued about everything from how high the air conditioner should be cranked, what time each of us individually should be going to bed, what we were eating for any given meal... and on and on!  Luckily, our tempers seem to have adjusted to the warmer temps.

#SBWed: Month 8

Highs
  • Despite being really busy, it's been an easy month.  The weather is nicer, we can laugh together without wanting to murder each other... it's a good time.
  • Mr. RH got a big promotion at work!!  I haven't shared much on the blog because it was such a raw subject for both of us - but Mr. RH was downsized from his job at a bank in the few months before our wedding.  As in - I was running around like a crazy person and he was unexpectedly free.  It was hard and humbling and really scary.  He got a job before the wedding, but it wasn't something he could really grow into.  But this month - it happened.  And we are so grateful!
Lows
  •  Is it bad that I can't think of any?
What can I say, it was a lame post but since I'm only 2 weeks out from the next update... gotta keep things moving. :)

#SBwed: Month 7

Judging by the lack of blogging, you would think that I have a ton of stuff to mention in this monthly post - but I have to say we were really low-key this month.

And, as usual, the month has completely flown.  I probably should have been taking better notes!

Highs
  • Getting in a quick visit with RH's family last weekend.  He had the whole day with them, but I had to do a drive-by visit after work.  Worth it!
  • I did the smallest amount of spring shopping to add to my wardrobe.  I haven't even worn the items and I feel like a new, sassy person.
  • Took time for a movie date night to see Divergent.  Loved it!  Drank the world's biggest soda.
  • I said this last month, but I think it's worth saying again: so much less fighting.  Finally starting to understand each other, even if the only amount of understanding is "he/she is crazy."
  • Finished posting wedding pics to the blog.
  • Sunny walks in the park... because WINTER IS OVER.  (Please god let it be over.)
  • Being "that couple" who sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night holding hands.  In the early days of never sleeping I didn't think we'd ever get to this point.  #SleepProblems
  • Planning some travel for this summer and fall.  And dreaming of having an unlimited budget for said travel.  Whomp!

Lows
  • Having a crummy Easter.  I had some raging PMS and he had a raging migraine that would not be tamed.  Fun times.  I ended up flying solo to dinner at my dad's house.
  • Thinking about blowing any semblance of a budget to finish decorating our apartment.  I just need more storage to hold all my junk! :)  One of us might just threaten to throw all my stuff into the dumpster.  Makes no sense to me.
  • Never enough date nights.  We've had some complicated schedules these past two weeks and have been passing like ships in the night far too often.
  • No Easter photo!  We may only have 1 set of photos from the last year, and they're all from our wedding.
  • Thinking about shutting down the blog.  I don't want to, necessarily, but I just suck at posting now.  Our lives are decidedly boring.

#SBwed: Month 6

As I started to write this post, I was struck with a lot of anxiety.  How is it possible that we have survived half a year of marriage?

Honestly, I have no clue. The past six months have absolutely flown.

Highs
  • Introduced my husband to Orange Leaf.  I think I've been there 2-3 times in a year.... and I have a feeling that we're going to become regulars now.  (Don't worry, I signed us up for the rewards program.)
  • We've suddenly reached this groove where we can tell when the other person needs a little more attention and can ward off major fights before they happen.
  • In almost every monthly post, I've mentioned epic fighting.  This month has been MUCH better.  Now sure if we've just run out of things to argue about or if we've just learned to agree to disagree.
  • Filed our first married taxes.  Felt really old and grown up.
  • Planned some vacations with family for this summer... now I've got my eye on some sort of anniversary trip this fall.
  • Almost all my wedding pics posted to the blog!!  I had a post ready to go on Wednesday - aaand I was maybe too lazy to get it finished.  This week kicked my tush!

Lows
  • $1k in car repairs.
  •  Never-ending winter.  Contributing to the above car repairs.  Stupid stupid winter, motherf#$%cker.
  • Not enough date nights.  We've been all over the place this month and haven't made much time to date each other.  Luckily, I'm really excited to see Divergent next week, so I can overlook it for now.
  • "Newlywedded bliss" is going too quickly!!  Only six more months of being newlyweds... :(

#SBwed: Month 5

As I started to write this post, I was struck with a lot of anxiety.  How is it possible that we have lived through ALMOST half a year of marriage?

Despite these monthly posts, I don't feel like I've done a good job really slowing down and enjoying our fun newlywed moments.  Are we even newlyweds at six months anymore?  Weep!

Highs
  • Excessive amounts of soup.  Extremely cold weather.  Still with the cabin fever.
  • First Married Valentine's Day!  We didn't make any new traditions this year, which is probably a good thing.  I'm having a hard time remembering what traditions we use for every holiday.  Do we write a letter for this one?
  • Finding out another BFF is preggo!!  (I actually found out last month, but I couldn't post it here because SECRETS!)
  • Less annoying the crap out of each other!  I can't decide if we've both chilled out a little bit (unlikely) or have just reconciled to each others bad habits.
Lows
  • Bills, bills, bills.  We've been paying off cards, getting rid of student loans and just generally settling into real reality.  It's not bad, but it's not exactly exciting.
  • I've been good about staying away from the mall and not spending all our money on clothes... but bad about spending all our money at the grocery store.  Which may result in spending more money on bigger pants.  Whomp.
  • My Valentine gift has still not arrived.  I really want to show you what it is, I'm excited about it!
  • Also related to eating and eating and food - we've been fighting about dishes like it's our job.  I think a dishes-nanny would solve all our problems, yes?
Now... if time could slow the heck down in the next month, maybe I'll actually have a picture to share for our month 6 update?  Sounds like a plan.

#SBwed: Month 4

Month 4.  How is that even possible?!

If I could describe the fourth month of marriage in one word it would be.... so-much-fighting.  So much laughing, and SO MUCH fighting.

It may be the fact that we had 30 inches of snow this month (not kidding), or it may be the fact that it's been below zero at least 5 days this month.  Soo much cabin fever.

Highs

  • FINALLY saw The Hunger Games (together) on New Year's Eve - one of the last days it was in our local theater.  Cutting it close!
  • Stole the husband's car and discovered that he has a remote starter in his car.  Negotiated to trade my Jetta for the cozy, warm car - but he declined.  Jerk!
  • Got snowed in during a blizzard.  Cleaned off our cars multiple times in a day, and let the husband tackle the snow mountain when it was it got below zero.
  • Slowly paying off schooling and debts from before marriage and seeing major (minor?) progress.  SO adult and so boring, but oddly satisfying.
  • Celebrating Christmas with both families.
  • Doing lots and lots of cooking while snowed in and eating our feelings in delicious carbohydrates.  Breaking in new pots and pans and kitchen gadgets in the process.
  • Finally starting to decorate our apartment - and that means there are things on the wall!
  • The temperature got above freezing last week and on a rare Sunday off together, we took a walk and got to talk about these crazy four months.  Priceless.
  • Walking in from work last last night after a loooong six-day stretch to find that my sweet, darling husband had cleaned out his (giant!) closet to make room for some of my wardrobe hoarding.  Such an unexpected surprise - I almost choke up just thinking about it.  I think this man has figured out my love language (closet space).  (crap hoarding) (am I crazy?)  (yes)
Lows
  • Getting my car stuck in a snow drift after being snowed in for 3 days at home.  First day back to work, and the (smoking!) jerk downstairs stole my spot.  And my sanity.
  • Time is really flying.  I think we've become so much less intentional with our time, now that we don't have every single weekend of our time booked (like I did last year).  Maybe I need to start planning things out a little more.  Sigh.
Now, if I could just slow time down for the next two months.  I can't believe we're almost to half a dang year married.  Seriously, where does the time go?!

Putting Issues to Bed

Long before Mr. RH and I got married, I knew we would have some major issues in the bedroom.

Thankfully, not the dirty issues you're thinking of (don't lie, I know you are), but, more specifically: sleeping issues.

I knew the major ones off the bat: my bedtime is closer to 10 pm, and his preferred wake-up time is closer to 11 am.  You do the messed-up math.

We argue constantly about "proper" bedtimes, although it's usually remedied by me having a glass of wine and going to bed whenever I feel like it.  Ahem.

So, this post is actually about another problem.  And holysheet it's annoying.

This, my friends, is our bed.

Our bed isn't really green, but just go with me here.  Wanted to provide a visual illustration without showing you the actual bed.  Cause that felt kinda weird.

This, below, is our bed and the way our sheets hang over the edge.  I would say we have a solid 6-8 inch overhang on each side, just enough so that when we lay in the bed, the sheets come up to the edge of the mattress.

In a perfect world, the flat sheet and comforter would have a solid 1-2 feet of overhang on each side of the bed.  Plenty of sheet for us to snuggle up in without disrupting the other person.

Currently, in the land of the frigid, we have been fighting in the middle of the night because one person pulls/rolls into the sheets and the other person is suddenly exposed to the frigid air.

Is there a solution to this sheet fight?

As a kid, I actually had a queen sized comforter for my twin bed... sooo, in this situation, do I just need to buy double king sized comforters and all the sheets that entails??

Is there a solution to my problem??

Does anywhere have good mix and match sheet sets?

I won't tell you how long we had to search to find a sheet set that was of acceptable smooth-ness (to me) and softness (to him).

We may just have to keep separate beds.

Just call us Lucy and Ricky.

(Please help!)

#SBwed: Month 3

Shh, don't tell my future self who will forget this as soon as I publish it... but I'm actually publishing this post a couple weeks late. Christmas really kicked my tush this year and I couldn't get myself together to get this post up.  Such is life!

Three months of marriage.  Seems like such a tiny, minute slice of time, right?  I'm pretty sure in college I had stretches where I didn't wash my sheets for three months.  (Ok, I know for sure that's a lie, cause dirty sheets are disgusting.)

Month 3.

Highs
  • Getting a sweet new couch for our sweet little love nest.  I don't really have a good picture of it yet, but suffice it to say it's been a nice spot to rest my tush after a long month in the retail jungle.
  • Doing tons of Christmas shopping for my new family.  It's definitely a new (HUGE!) undertaking compared to what I'm used to, but it's been a fun labor of love.
  • Having a date-day with the RH family to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Lost Christmas" show.
  • Hitting our stride a little bit in marriage.  We had a much smoother month in terms of arguing and bickering over dumb things... probably because we were so busy we didn't have time to nit-pick!  :)

Lows
  • Disagreeing over when we got our new couch.  I would have included it in our 2 month recap if we had it.... but the man believes I'm crazy and we got it earlier.  What-ever.
  • Seeing my husband on our 3 month anniversary for less than 5 minutes.  I worked on the Friday night before our anniversary until 1 am.  He had to be at work around 6 am, so he was in bed before I even got home.  I worked past midnight again on the 21st (yay Super Saturday!), so the only real communication we had was via text.  Not gonna lie, it was a tough wake-up call for both of us at how unbalanced our work lives were during the holiday season.
It's a little bit sad how quickly that month flew and how little I remember about it.  Let's try to do better in month 4, eh?

#SBwed: Month 2

Duude, time flies.  Like especially the time that I was supposed to post this, which would be yesterday.  That flew too.

So.  Marriage is still kinda-hard work.  Fun work, when you can get it, but also decidedly work.

This month has been busy.  Hectic.  Lots of running around and becoming the legal Mrs. RH.  Whoaa.  Things are getting real.

Highs
  • Getting our new little home together even more.  It's definitely a HUGE work in progress, but baby steps are being made.
  • Ordering a piece of furniture together, having it arrive, and putting it together on your 2 month wedding anniversary.

  • Meeting my new niece after months of anticipating her arrival.  I realize that I have actual nieces by marriage now.... but meeting THIS niece after spending 9 months with her mom prior to her arrival was very special.

  • Finishing 90% of the Thank you notes... but not getting them mailed before the 2 month date.  Dang.   So close!
  • Getting my Social Security card with my new name on it.  Freaky how real things are getting!

Lows
  • The spirited debate over whether the red cabinet (pictured above) is TV-and-game worthy.  Some of us think FUNCTION trumps all style... and some of us think that both isn't too much to ask for.
  • Even more arguing.  Like over whether the sheets were put in the dryer early enough to be folded before work, and what battles should be fought if they were - or weren't.
  • Barely seeing my husband.  Who knew that retail got crazy around Thanksgiving, anyways?  Was I blocking that part out from last year?
  • Stressing over what to bring to the RH family Thanksgiving.  I have already been relegated to appetizers.... which, I'm informed, means a relish tray.  Like, pickle relish?  What does that even mean?

Month 2, in a nutshell.  How did a month go so flipping fast?!

Right on the Nose

Ladies and other ladies, we are less than 48 hours out from a serious WEDDING PHOTO DELIVERY, so the chances of me writing anything coherent are... less than nothing.

This past Friday, I decided to throw Mr. RH a bone and help get some pictures on the wall.  He has been a rock as far as helping me settle in and make the apartment feel like my home, so hanging a couple of pictures seemed like a nice, easy compromise.

So, of course, I decided to do the slightly more difficult thing and use those sticky 3M hooks to hang a few of the pictures instead of a simple nail in the wall.  Because it's an apartment and I don't want to fill in anybody's nail holes.

Ten minutes later and I realize that the hook require more than 2 hands and I'll have to wait for Mr. RH to help me level the photos, especially since I was hanging 2 pictures side by side.

So I wait.  Mr. RH walks in the door, tells me to use my iPhone as a level, and that it's a one-person job.

Teamwork, honey.  Thanks a lot.

So he puts the iPhone on top of the picture I'm trying to straighten... and I gingerly try not to move and get the frame in place and.... BAM.

The phone falls and nails me directly in the nose.  As, I would like to point out, I predicted it would.

I am immediately crying, tears streaming down my face from the pain.  Four days later and I still have a tender spot on the top of my nose.... thankfully, no bruise.  Or I'd have to tell people that my husband did it.

The question remains... who's fault is it?  The wife who asked for help (amateur!) or the husband who placed a very heavy, expensive level above his precious bride's face to be helpful?

I think we all know where my vote lies.

Side note: Does THIS look straight to you?!  Honestly.  WTF, my life.

#SBwed: Month 1

Um, first of all, HOLY COW.  Was that day seriously a month ago? I feel like it has been seconds and a lifetime since that day.

Also, unrelated note, WHO ARE THOSE ATTRACTIVE PEOPLE?!  (And no, we don't have the pro pics back yet.  I am on pins and very excited needles.)

Soo.  Marriage.  I've talked about wedding-stuff mostly non-stop for a year, but marriage?  Yikes!

Because I have already forgotten SO much about that (awesome!  dare I say perfect?!) day, I thought it would be fun to recap each month with some highs and lows from each month of marriage.

Without further ado.... Month 1.

Highs
  • Waking up next to my best friend.
  • Buying our first piece of furniture as a married couple - a couch!  We bought it sight unseen, and Mr. RH actually ordered it while I was visiting my goddaughter.  Eeeek!  I can't wait to meet it.
  • Opening and using 99% of our wedding gifts.  Mr. RH insisted we actually open and use everything.  If it were up to me, 75% of it all would still be in boxes, waiting for the "perfect occasion" to break them open.
  • Honeymoon!!  A whole week of relaxation and eating.  Not enough beach for my taste, but there will always be beaches.
Torn between this photo and a photo of me looking tan and hot on the beach.  So torn.
  • The picnic that the catering facility sent home with us.  It made a delicious second dinner after midnight.  And for breakfast the next day.  #littlepiggies
  • Shaving my legs less than 4 times in the past month.  Marriage is amazing and magical!
  • Celebrating the marriage of one of my BFF's exactly 2 weeks after our wedding day.  It was all a little surreal and trippy - and I wish I had been a little bit more present and detached from my own wedding... but it was amazing, and I basically danced my ass off.  Two weeks after dancing my ass off.

If you're keeping track, that's -1 ass I'm in possession of.  Also, I'm gigantic.
  • Putting our new little home together, together.  Mr. RH would prefer if everything was magically unpacked and put away and perfect, but I'm enjoying the process.  Once it's over... it's over!  (aka, time to re-decorate!)  I use the term decorate loosely.
  • Making decisions together.  It's fun... except when it's not.
  • Leftover wedding cake.  We were planning on eating the top of our cake on our 1 month anniversary, but we just finished off my birthday cake.  2 month cake?!

Lows
  • Stupid asshole pens.  I would say our first fight was when I left a pen, exactly like this, sitting on the coffee table.  Apparently, keeping it un-clicked (is it clicked or un-clicked?) is a sin punishable by death.  Hint: I'm dead.
  • Getting used to two different schedules.  I'm no longer getting up at 6 am, but I'm also not getting much sleep.  #sotired
  • Guilt-free shopping seems to have disappeared.  When I was squandering my own fortunes, I couldn't have been happier.  Now it just feels selfish.  Although I am treating myself to a new purse for my birthday.... last week.  Someday.
  • The arguing.  It's been a very happy month, but dang if we haven't argued over the silliest things.
  • Kinda letting my looks fall apart.  My eyebrows are starting to merge together.  In all fairness, one of my bridesmaids has my tweezers from applying false lashes during our hair appointments.  In all fairness, I have at least 2 other pairs around here somewhere.  Maybe.
  • Turning 27.  I'm getting to the point where birthdays are really losing their appeal.
  • Finding out that the cards Mr. RH bought me for our wedding day are lost.  I actually never got to read them on our wedding day, and I wish I had at least seen them.  At least the (scary!) book he bought me for our honeymoon didn't get lost!
My card for Mr. RH.  Sealed with a kiss!

  • Feeling like there's never enough time.  I have so much to say that sometimes I feel like there are never enough hours together.  I'll probably be over that in month 2, right?

I feel like I have a hundred more items to add, but I've got to save something for next month!
