2009 in Review

Today I am going to join Musings of a Housewife in reliving 2009 through my first post each month. And maybe a few bonus posts if I'm feeling generous.

I wrote 220 posts in 2009, counting this one. Let's not even think about how many hours it took to write each of those posts.... hours I could have spent doing other things. But then again, I wouldn't be writing this post to my amazing 306 followers, would I?

Time well spent, I say.

Enjoy!

January
Hello, 2009
"Well, Hello 2009! Lovely to see you, finally!"
Clearly I was way, way off in my projections for the year. Getting a job, moving away, getting engaged. No, no, and no. Wow, this little list is off to a fun start, no?

February
Makeup Monday
"So, it's Monday. In my life, Monday is akin to Hell Day. I only call it Hell Day because it means that I have class on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Seems like a life sentence, even though it usually flies."
In 2009, one of the best decisions I made was joining Chic Critique. I just love makeup so it's the perfect place to indulge that particular hobby.

March
Fresh New Monday
"Monday, Monday, Monday."
In which The Boy convinced me to go to Florida on Spring Break with him and his friends, while my friends went on an amazing cruise. I wasn't feeling compelled in any particular way, other than the fact that I just wanted to sleep for a week. I went to Florida, if you remember.

April
Happy April 6th! Or is it December 6th?
"This is what I woke up to this morning."
This is why I am not all too sad about no longer living in South Bend, IN. The snow was everywhere. All the time.

May
College is Over
"As of yesterday at 1:45 PM, I am finished with college classes.."
I always was a smart girl - scheduling my life so I didn't have class on Fridays. So glad I posted this... it's just a perfect memory in my mind. Love this simple post. Things were oh so simple then...

June
Stuff of Life
"Ok, I've got a question for you. I think it's one we've ALL dealt with at some point or another."
This post was all about the clutter that always seems to take over my life - the photo cards and birth announcements and wedding invitations... but in hindsight the title of this post - Stuff of Life - kind of foreshadows what was to come on 6/22/09 - The Big Breakup. (I was going to say a little something about that post but I'm just not. Don't want to read it.)

July
Pedicures Cure Everything, Right?
"So after writing a very whiney post yesterday, I am happy to report that today is all rainbows and sunshine."
I think that's a bit of a theme around here... moods swinging wildly from one extreme to the other. Hold on tight!!
That picture reminds me that A) I need to paint my toes and B) Wow, I look so much better with a tan. Like, wow. Spray tan, anyone?

August
Guest Posting
"In the midst of all the craziness with renovating the house, I completely forgot I am guest posting for Julie at Wearing Mascara today."
I really do love that post I wrote.... definitely one of my favorites. Too bad I write crap most days....

September

Happy September 1st!
"Well well well... it's really true. Summer is over. September is here."
Riveting stuff, I know. This post ended up being about weight gain and how much I hate it! In September I accomplished one month of The Shred with the September Shreddedrs.
I think it's high time for another month of The Shred. Also, I have recently started some health/lifestyle changes... I'll blog about them if I see any results!!

October
Happy October 1st!
"Wow, I did not see October coming. At all. In fact, when I opened up my computer and saw that it said October I literally thought it was a mistake."
Again with the literary and creative genius. I talked about one of my favorite purchases from 2009 in this post - a sweatshirt jacket from Forever 21. Love that jacket.

November
A Serious Post About Shopping
"The title of this post made you confused - right? I mean, how serious can shopping be - right?"
I like this post for whatever reason. I know that one of the reasons I love to shop is because my mom and I always used to do it together. And I miss her - every day.

December
To Be Alone
"What does it mean to be alone?"
Not the most fun post - to read or to write. I'm pretty sure I cried my way through this one. This post is definitely a good cap off of my year - trying to figure out who I am, on my own, after so many years of being half of a duo.

So, that was my year in review via this blog. It's definitely been a hell of a ride.

2009 marks my last year of College - the last year of the best four years of my life. I just wish I had known how much I would miss it once it was gone.

2009 marks the end of my relationship with The Boy. I believe I have spent at least 5 of the past 6 New Years' Eve's with him. (Yes, there are a lot of apostrophes in the last sentence and I have no clue which ones are correct.)

2009 marks the first time where I feel like I have NO CLUE WHAT I'M DOING. No clue, no job, just... nothing. And learning that I'm going to be OK even when things are so uncertain - that's a good thing.

2009 marks the last year of living at Home. In our Home. Selling our house was sad - that place had so many memories, especially the memories of my mom.

And this is where I want to wrap up this post with a neat little bow... but if I've learned anything in 2009 it's that sometimes there are no neat endings. You just keep putting one foot in front of the other and soon you might find that you are much stronger than you give yourself credit for.

Dear 2009,

You brought much joy and much pain. It seems like so many suffered tragedies and hardships this year - not only personally but economically. So, dearest 2009, I think it's time for you to get the heck on out of year. Don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out!

Hasta la vista!

xo,

Sarah

See you all in 2010!! Have a safe and very blessed New Year!!

I went to college for 4 yrs in South Bend and know the Winters that can be had.
My father went to school in South bend as well. I grew up though 2 1/2 hours away and still live within a 1/2 hour of my home town so the snow is still here.
Hope that 2010 is a good one for you.
