First of all, if you haven't seen Bridesmaids yet... you MUST. It was the single best therapy I've had in months.
My friends and I went into the movie expecting The Hangover for girls. I had heard reviewers talk about it this way, I'd heard it referenced this way, so that's what I expected.
So. Wrong.
The movie has plenty of gags in it. Yes, there are poop jokes and crude humor. Cheap thrills. But it wasn't what stuck with me.
It is not an exaggeration to say that it's the first time I've laughed out loud in months. I'm a self-conscious laugher but it couldn't be helped in this movie.
"What kind of a name is Stove? Are you a kitchen appliance?"Here's the thing - the heart of this movie is not crude humor and poop jokes. Faaaar from it. The movie's really about friends - best friends. People who've seen you at your worst and live to tell about it. People who'd never tag you in hideously unflattering facebook photos, even if they looked really, really good.
"My name is Steve and I'm a man."
So, if you haven't seen it yet.... grab your best girlfriends and GO. I'm sure a man would enjoy it, but only a girlfriend who's also feeling like she'll never get her sh*t together (like me!) will really make the movie worthwhile.
I give this one an A++. You can bet your ass I'll be first in line for the DVD.

I really need to see this! Everyone is raving about it about and I still haven't gotten to the theater!
This is my new favorite movie for sure. I NEVER laugh in films and I was crying so hard I was laughing. I am going to pre-order the DVD so that I can have it right away. Best movie ever.
Arggg...I need to add some new friends to my circle. They only want to see super sad/Oscar winning movies. I just want to laugh!
"No, no, it's not me, I'm with him, I'm Mrs. Iglesias."
I've seen the movie twice.
I loved it. I honestly haven't laughed that hard in ages. It was a very fabulous movie!
I loved this movie!! It is hilarious and also shows you about real friendships! I LOVE IT!!
The airplane scene has got to be the most hilarious drunk/under the influence movie scene ever! (Well, besides Long Duck Dong in the tree Sixteen Candles-style.) Great movie for all the reasons you mentioned - the women weren't tearing each other apart or stealing each other's men which was a nice change up!
I'd like to go see. Thanks for the recommendation.
I went and saw this movie this week and I loved it!! It definitely was one I will want to own!
I just found your blog today and I would love for you to check out mine and follow back! :)

Couldn't agree with your review more! Best (and funniest) movie I've seen in a long time. I can't wait to buy it once it's out on DVD!
