Happy September 1st!

Well well well... it's really true. Summer is over. September is here.

Bring on the pumpkin pies and warm, bulky sweaters!

Or... not.

On Saturday, I had my annual physical with my doctor. All was well and good and she gave my a clean bill of health - yay!

However, I did bring up my weight. You see, I tipped the scales at 140 pounds... not terribly heavy, but not terribly fit either. (And god knows I am not fit in the slightest.)

So we flipped back through my medical history and discovered that in 2006 I only weighed in at 122 pounds - which is 18 pounds less than today.

It's not a huge gain, but it's definitely a little concerning.

Of course, it's not unexplainable. In those three years, I: was way over-extended with school, lost my grandma and grandpa, went on the pill, tried to fatten my sick mom by making every baked good under the sun, lost my mom, sold my childhood home, moved into a dumpy house, got dumped by the Boy (we dated for 6 years and yes I'm still a bit miffed about the whole thing), and generally stopped caring about how I looked.

From 2006:

To 2009:

Enough is enough, I say. The weight gain ends here.

I have for some insane reason signed myself up for the September Shred. Sarahviz of the fabulous blog In the Trenches of Mommyhood has challenged Amy, Ashley, Erika, Jenn, Jenni, Jill, Kim, Kimi, Michelle, Michelle, Pauline, Rebecca, Samantha, Shanna and myself to the Shred for a full 30 days, starting today. We will be posting daily updates on the Shredding in September blog.

If I make it through this month alive, it'll definitely be a miracle.

Do you have any goals this September?

I have to say I think you look equally great in both sets of pictures!

My goal in September is to stick to a vegitarian diet & hopefully lose a little bit of extra padding. (That is if I can cut back on all the damn carbs I've been eating!)

Good luck girl!

Good luck with your goals! I'm trying to lose weight too, but I'm not doing any kind of big jump-start like you are. I admire your determination, though!

PS: did you find a purse? This is a link to a 20% off coupon for Coach outlets!: https://e.coach.com/servlet/website/PersonalizedForm?JhHJoEVTTCTBWU_XUZUW_.40HJmhkRE.26f7be_7.2e.2ey.26zzEHsVYANFHmmDJhtEikpgmwHnLEmkNL

My September goal is similar to yours! I'd like to get more healthy overall - eat better, workout more, be more serious about my health, etc... Good luck to you! I've never tried the Shred, but I heard it's great. Maybe I should give it a shot!

You look fabulous. We actually are at the same weight. I have already lost 45 lbs since April 2008 and I'm trying to get down to at least 125. I too was at you weight 3 years ago but life happened and I gain a little bit more than you! Good luck to you! Maybe we can root for each other at weight loss!

Strange enough, I just wrote in my blog about body image and I come over here and read this.... You look great in both sets of pics, but what it boils down to is how YOU feel about it and how YOU feel when you look in the mirror. I hate it when people tell me I look good because it's ultimately when I feel my worst and I feel like they're just telling me something to feel nice.... Yes, I have issues!! Good luck with the Shred.

I have some first-year-of-marriage-and-living-overseas weight gain I am aiming to get rid of. I've started counting calories and I exercise 3-4 times a week!

You still look so beautiful, if you hadn't told me you gained weight I wouldn't have known! It happens to the best of us...it's just growing up! And you have been through some major life changes so that has a big effect, but no matter what you are still a beautiful girl!

Good luck!

Um, you don't look any different in the two sets of pictures. Not kidding.

Also? I hate you for having such perfect hair.

Whatever! You are adorable!

The 30 day shred is fun. I can never stick with it longer than about 8 days though.

First off, I think you're gorgeous and look totally healthy. Second, that's a lot of stressful things to happen in 2-3 years...weight gain is def. expected!

Good luck with your goals tho!
