#SBwed: Month 2

Duude, time flies.  Like especially the time that I was supposed to post this, which would be yesterday.  That flew too.

So.  Marriage is still kinda-hard work.  Fun work, when you can get it, but also decidedly work.

This month has been busy.  Hectic.  Lots of running around and becoming the legal Mrs. RH.  Whoaa.  Things are getting real.

Highs
  • Getting our new little home together even more.  It's definitely a HUGE work in progress, but baby steps are being made.
  • Ordering a piece of furniture together, having it arrive, and putting it together on your 2 month wedding anniversary.

  • Meeting my new niece after months of anticipating her arrival.  I realize that I have actual nieces by marriage now.... but meeting THIS niece after spending 9 months with her mom prior to her arrival was very special.

  • Finishing 90% of the Thank you notes... but not getting them mailed before the 2 month date.  Dang.   So close!
  • Getting my Social Security card with my new name on it.  Freaky how real things are getting!

Lows
  • The spirited debate over whether the red cabinet (pictured above) is TV-and-game worthy.  Some of us think FUNCTION trumps all style... and some of us think that both isn't too much to ask for.
  • Even more arguing.  Like over whether the sheets were put in the dryer early enough to be folded before work, and what battles should be fought if they were - or weren't.
  • Barely seeing my husband.  Who knew that retail got crazy around Thanksgiving, anyways?  Was I blocking that part out from last year?
  • Stressing over what to bring to the RH family Thanksgiving.  I have already been relegated to appetizers.... which, I'm informed, means a relish tray.  Like, pickle relish?  What does that even mean?

Month 2, in a nutshell.  How did a month go so flipping fast?!

Happy 2 months!!!! And a relish tray means two different types of pickles and usually black and green olives too! Weird, I know!

I'm working on thank yous too and don't think we'll wrap them up before 2 months. You are ahead of us for sure!

The relish tray is a great thing to be told to bring - easy peasy and so delish! It's just a veggie tray with other yummy stuff like olives and pickles. I like to include celery stuffed with a mixture of cream cheese, blue cheese, cranberries and walnuts - so good!

I'm almost at the 6 month mark for my marriage...already?! I've got to say it has been the best 6 months and the most challenging at the same time. The fact that we are doing this together makes the challenges so much more rewarding in the end.

Oh, the thank-you notes. I've written 20... only 66 to go! (Eek, I feel sick just typing that.) I'm the type of person who loves to cross things off her to-do list immediately, so having this ongoing project is stressing me a bit! I'm planning to sit down for a few hours tomorrow and really knock 'em out, though.

I love the cabinet! And I definitely feel you on adjusting. I'm really glad I moved in with Spence a month before the wedding, because I feel like we worked out lots of those early kinks. Not to say our two weeks since the wedding has been entirely wedded bliss... especially since I got sick on my honeymoon! (Bleh.) But it's a good challenge, that's for sure. :)

You better clarify with them what they mean by a relish tray. From your responses it looks like it means different things to different people. If I were asked to bring one I would bring cut up veggies and a ranch dip.

Don't sweat it. I wouldn't know what to do for a relish tray either. Bring the expected, but then add something that's your own twist. I love sharing my favorites - like a skinny buffalo chicken dip!
