I feel like I've got lots to say today but let's just talk about the Oscars, ok? Okay.
First of all, it was an OK Oscars night, in my opinion. I've seen much boring-er. Like the year they did 2304 montages. Trust me, last night was practically snappy compared to that.
So, the hosts. James Franco and Anne Hathaway. Although she was weirdly awkward/excited, I thought Anne did a good job. I certainly didn't hate her. However.
James Franco? O.m.g. Grow a personality, buddy. He looked so HIGH the entire night. His eyes could not have been more closed than.... than if he actually did the whole dang night with his eyes closed. He was awkward and just awful. At least you could tell Anne was trying.
Did you all see David Seidler, screenwriter for The King's Speech, win? I should like to nominate him for best acceptance speech of the night.
First he joked about being a late bloomer (as he is the oldest winner in his category)... then he thanked his kids for always believing in him as much as he believes in them. (Yes, I started crying at that point.) He then wrapped up by accepting his award on behalf of stutter-ers (um, that's hard to even type!) everywhere. "We have a voice, we have been heard, thanks to you, the Academy."
Maybe I'm just sentimental but I swear, it doesn't get any better than that. Heck, that was the high point of the evening for the next couple hours of the show.
Colin Firth's win for best actor was also charming... is there anyone on the planet who isn't a little bit in love with him? I don't think so.
And then the conclusion of the night, with the kids from Public School 22 from Staten Island singing Over the Rainbow... I'll admit it, I got teared up.
All in all, defintely an improvement over past Oscars... however, why didn't Hugh Jackman co-host with Anne? That would have been excellent.
And while we're on the topic... I'd like to formally announce my campaign for next year's host.
Did you see her hand out the Best Actor award? She would be perfection on that stage - all night long. Self deprecating and adorable.
SANDY FOR 2012!!

I so agree with it all....I kept saying that James Franco was on something! He was so LAME. And Anne...she was cute and kinda funny...I like her "duet" with Hugh :)
All in all...not bad, like you said, but not the best. There were some gorgeous dresses (and some AWFUL ones)!

I AGREE! I loved Anne and thought James was terrible. He looked high as a kits, which is just so disrespectful. If you need to calm your nerves, have a drink! I felt bad for Anne because you could tell she was taking the job seriously and doing it well. She was already classy and that just made her even classier in my opinion.
Oh I would LOVE it if Sandy would host next year!! I'm with you on that one sister!
Oh my goodness, James Franco--why on earth did they pick him to co host?! Anne did I good job, she was funny, and darling, and looked happy to be there. She and Hugh Jackman would have killed it. Why Academy, WHY?!!! Oh, oh, or, next year, Sandy and Hugh Jackman? That would kinda sorta be perfection.
I didn't watch the entire Oscar show but I did check out the fashion before and after and ohmygoodness how fab did Halle Berry look in the nude sparkling gown? And Mila Kunis in her lavender number? Ohhhh how nice it would be to dress up like that every night!
I just found your blog and I love it! I'm a new follower. Check out mine some time too!

Completely agree!! Franco was a total snooze, and I think the producers knew it. Anne was definitely the lead host!
Agree--James Franco was...James Franco. I was left trying to figure out if he was just acting that way, or if that's the real him.
I just did an Oscar post haha, James Franco definitely looked high all night! I saw Colin Firth and a lot of celebs all weekend so that was really cool.
