Oh Yes. Chicago.

Once upon a time I said I was going to write about all the fun things I did in Chicago. And then I took a mini-vacation from the old blog because LIFE was just so exciting. (Not really.)

So, last week I spent my birthday in Chicago. It was nice to just bum around the city with no agenda except seeing the sights. Have I mentioned that my friends live there but haven't been to ANY of the touristy places? Yeah, don't worry, I solved the problem.

First things first, we did a little shopping on Michigan Avenue. I'm not sure if we weren't in the mood or what... but we ended up not buying too much. I'll dig out my purchases and show you next week sometime.

After that, we decided to walk to the Sears Tower to conquer our terrifying fear of heights.

Walk.

And just let me say now - it was supposed to be 80 degrees that day and was about 60 instead. Hello flip flops, a 2ish or more mile walk, and inappropriate clothes. Woohoo!

We finally got there and we were terrified. Dude, that building is TALL. So tall it makes you dizzy to look up!

And those little observation ledges were our goal.

But first we had to have a few mini photo shoots to break the tension.

Bite out of the Hancock, anybody? (Definitely got all the other tourists laughing. What, they've never seen a photo shoot in action??)

And thank you grandpa for the birthday money that paid for this $32 photo. Totally worth it! It's terrifying to step out onto what looks like nothing but AIR... but once you do it, it's not bad at all. The first step is the hardest part.

And since we had already gotten over the hardest part.... we decided to have a photo shoot. Or a few of them. The other tourists didn't mind, much.

Once we shared our tips with them.

Isn't that photo crazy?? Looks like I'm floating in THIN AIR. Ick. Don't wanna think about it.

Then we moseyed on over to The Bean.

Isn't my friend adorable? She always lets me have a photo shoot with her.

And we were too lazy to walk on the same day... but of course no trip to Chicago is complete without Buckingham Fountain. It was my friend's first trip so of course... photo shoot!

More Chicago pics to come next week... promise that this is the end of the touristy shots. Mostly.

Have a happy and safe weekend everybody!!

I saw that glass ledge thing on 19 kids and counting (ha!), and wow, it's amazing how scary that looks - I don't know if I could do it!

I've always wanted to go to Chicago! Ryan's aunt and uncle live in Naperville, so maybe we will go sometime. You're pretty close by, right? I'll call you if we plan a trip! :)

Oh, love the photos! Looks like such a great time. I went years ago with my family and was amazed at how beautiful and clean it was! We went to the top of the Sears Tower too, though not out onto the in-thin-air ledge. Cool!
