The Thrill of Victory - The Agony of Defeat

Yes, I realize that the title of this post may seem like it's leading into something sports-related... but if you think that, it's obviously your first visit to my lil blog. Or else you don't know me very well.

Sports. Pfffft. Who cares?

I'm talking about the important stuff: shopping.

A while back I had a spectacularly bad F21 order. I mentioned a dubiously-named pair of "Elastic Denim Pants." As in - skinny jeans without a zipper. Just elastic.

When I tried them on, along with the rest of my F21 picks, I really liked them. I didn't look at the pictures at all... I just assumed they were as cute as they were in my mind.

Clearly, my mind could use a second opinion.

And now, the most blurry pictures ever. Of the least thigh-flattering jeans in history.

Yes, I realize that I am doing some awkward jig-type move in the first pic. I have no idea what's going on. Seriously, none.

Getting into these pants was an adventure. I had ordered two sizes - small & medium, because I had no clue what to order. I should have known that coming from F21 the small was not even an option.

I held them up in front of me and they were less than 12 inches wide. NEXT.

It definitely took a lot of shimmy-ing. Lots of hopping around. But they were on, and they were comfy. I am probably going to wear them with longer tunics and dresses.... because any other way would be criminal.

Yeah, I really shouldn't have kept these pants. Oh well, too late now.

Onto the victory.

Last night, my homegirls and I went out for a bit o' Mexican dinner. Margaritas included.

(Side note: when I say "home girls" I am referring to my friends from home. As opposed to my college friends. Although I suppose I could just be very cool and 80s-ghetto and just refer to them as my homegirls. Whatever.)

First off, the margaritas. I ordered a medium, expecting perhaps a mug of margarita. Not so much.

Unfortunately, I had just come from Zumba class and was purse-less and camera-less.

Suffice it to say, a medium is not a medium. It was HUGE. Literally, bigger than the bowl I ate cereal out of this morning.

Since I was driving after dinner, I could only drink a few sips of what turned out to be a $10 drink. Bummer.

After Margarita-Fest '10, the girls and I decided a bit of TJ Maxxing was in order. Which is fabulous, since I haven't been since before I started my job on Valentine's Day.

And on the end of the rack of dresses, this guy called my name. He's a bit shorter than any dress I'd normally wear. Ever.

But it doesn't matter. It was love at first sight.
I love the gray color (although it clashes terribly with my whiter-than-white skin tone). I love love the pearl and beaded neckline. LOVE.

(Um, this bra and this dress are not working. Need to remedy that situation asap.)

And the best part? $19.99.

Now see... this is where the victories and the defeats start to work together.... this dress plus the elastic jeans... I think it's a win, don't you?

Have you bought anything cute lately?

And can you please quit flaunting your tiny waist all over the internet? Your jean pictures just made me reach for the jelly beans on my desk. :)

LOVE that dress! Also, I like those jeans. I actually have 4 pairs from Abercrombie (except they have a stupid name for them - jeggings) that I LOVE. They have a button and zipper though. Super comfy and theirs are very flattering, definitely try them out!

Plus, teh leggins/dress combo would look amazing

Cute dress! I love the idea of pairing it with the jeans.

I've learned my lesson when ordering margaritas in Mexican restaurants. It seems they are ALWAYS huge!

I think if you called them anything but elastic jeans I might like them. Of course, I could never wear anything like that. I do love that dress, though, very cute!

I love the dress. Did you ever find anymore white shirts?

Super jealous you can wear skinny jeans. Do you like Zumba? I'm thinking of signing up for a class but it's kind of expensive.

I think those pants, which look fine on your by the way, are not jeans with elastic. I think they are jean leggings. That's right, you are wearing JEGGINGS! But as as long as rock them with style, who cares what you call them? :-)
