Not Sure if This is a Compliment....

As you will eventually know if you stick around here long enough, working retail is a particular blend of hilarity.

Meaning: some crazy ass people walk through my doors every day.

I'll set the scene for you.

It's maybe 1 pm. I am alone in my store.

All of a sudden, I see a 70 year old woman with a cane hobbling toward me.

I ask her what I can help her with and she just smiles. So big.

"Your hair," she says.

"Um, I'm sorry?"

"I want you hair."

"Oh."

Girl was at least 70 years old with close-cropped, fuzzy old lady hair. You know... real wiry and fluffy.

She wanted to know if she could purchase the color of my hair. In a bottle.

So I told her that I had highlights, done in a salon.

She asked me a dozen questions about highlights. I explained.

Pretty sure I should be pissed that the elderly want hair like mine, right?

And should sue my hairstylist?

Seriously, this is a new low point for me.

Gotta run - need to take some fiber supplements and get my walker all shined up for a long shift at work.

Oy. vey.

As a fellow retailer...I can totally appreciate this story.
My favorite is when men come in shopping for clothing for Christmas and say things like,"My wife is your size...she wears large" or worse yet, "Xlarge".
I am an xsmall/small and a medium is 99.9% of the time too big...so this does wonders for the ego!

Ha! That is hilarious. But I would take it as a compliment just because you have beautiful hair :)

Awww.... boo! You have pretty hairy! It was just a compliment :)

Girl please, take that as a compliment! I wouldn't consider that a low point AT ALL.

She was probably a very stylish granny - her outside just doesn't show it anymore. Poor thing! You've got gorgeous hair, so she clearly has great taste. I think you should get one of those plastic rain hats the old ladies wear to go with your walker. You wouldn't want that pretty hair getting wet in the rain! :)

Take it as a compliment because you have wonderful hair. It could have been worse, the granny could have said something horrific! You never know what your going to get with old people.

I no longer worker in a restaurant but, when I did, little old ladies loved my hair. You see, I have naturally curly hair and I went it short. All of the ladies couldn't believe I didn't have a "permanent!"
I took it at face value and tried not to think about how all of the blue hairs loved my hair.... :-)

Lots of older women talk about my hair. I have thick, dark hair. One of my residents mentioned how cute I was and that my hair looked nice. It was sticking in a zillion different directions. I said thank you because she had recently shaved her head because of her chemo.

Aw, I think it is sweet. You do have a great hair color.

I think it's precious.

A 50-ish non-stylish woman told me a few weeks ago she likes my boots. They're grey but she wanted the camel colored ones, but she wasn't sure if they made them like that any more. I'm fairly sure she was comparing my grey Frye boots to Uggs? Not sure. I wasn't sure how to interpret the conversation. And I'm clearly still struggling with it.

Bahahaha...this had me cracking up. It's sweet, but definitely a little creepy. You do have gorgeous hair though!

Haha, I was definitely giggling too. I've always been the one envious of others hair, and I've probably looked like a creeper a few times asking random strangers who does their hair.

You just have fab hair, that's all! I wouldn't be pissed if I were you, I'd be flattered :)

Ps. I gave you the Happy 101 Award on my blog today. I love reading your blog!

Next time anyone asks you in the store, just give them a hair dye product.
