I'm Mental. Let's Leave It At That.

Ok, I've been having issues with my computer for a while now.

Most recently, I've been using a little USB mouse because it's a lot more reliable than my laptop touchpad.

I've had this little mouse for maybe 2 years. It broke in the first week I had it, but it was easily glued back together.... there was just a loose piece of plastic.

But recently, the left button stopped working well. So I reversed the buttons and am using the right button as my main clicky button.

You still following me? Have I confused you with all my clicky lingo?

Long story short (but not short enough, clearly!): I got a new mouse.
And yet... I keep using the jankity one and the new one is still in the package. Since the old one still has some use left in it, I feel bad just tossing it into the trash.

Does anyone else do weird, neurotic things like this? I actually feel guilty for "wasting" a mouse that was half-broken before the left button stopped working.

Yep, I'm a strange one.

I think knowing that my grandmother was super-duper conservative with new things because she grew up in the Depression, I feel compelled to try and make things last as long as possible.

Yep, losing my marbles. One day at a time.

Do you have any weird quirks? Tell me I'm not the only strange person around here...

I can be like that with a few things I love, example my pillow :p my pillow is old and pretty much shaped like a garbage bag or something now but it's so comfy. I have new ones in my bed but I use it all the time.

I'm just as quirky. Except I'd start using the new one but feel so guilty about throwing out the old one with a little use in it left that I'd keep it, as a backup. 10 years and probably 2 more new mouses (mice?) later I'd still have that first janky one sitting in a drawer somewhere.

I am not, but L is. For example we ordered a new computer and printer, but yet the new printer is still sitting in its box while he complains about the old one. Even though the old one should be thrown away, he will keep it. Drives me batty.

LOL!! I do what LawGirl does... I keep the old "just in case"... I am starting to realize that this is just bad behavior (and clutter) so I have started throwing things out. Pat is a hoarder though... he gets it from his Grandmother... who could put the people on the show Hoarder's to shame.

I'm pretty OCD about most things. I too have no idea what to do about old computer things. I have a drawer full of cords that go to things we don't own anymore. But I just don't know what to do with them. What if I find something one day that needs a cord?

Oh yes, I get that way too. I won't toss anything that *might* be useful still in some way. When I had to start getting rid of stuff to move cross country, I gave most of it to charity, or to my younger sisters. I felt better knowing at least someone was going to use it!

yep...i'm the same way. i fill liquid soap containers with water to get the last tiny bits out. i use every last bit of my powdered makeup. the two happy birthday paper plates that were left over from a birthday party were put in a drawer and after several birthday parties i had a mixed matched set of party plates. whichever kid got them didn't even mind. i have no idea why i do stuff like this. i wasn't raised poor at all. my parents aren't like this. but the thought of throwing something away before it is gone or used or completely beyond repair makes me feel completely wasteful.

My boyfriend does that with EVERYTHING! It's actually kind of funny to see the ways he "conserves" things. I think it's an endearing quality!

I did the same thing with a curling iron this week! My curling iron was so old and it only worked when it wanted to work, so I bought a new one. I have started to use the new one, but I had to stop myself from keeping the old one. I didn't want to throw it away because it still worked-sometime! :)

EVERY. DAY. OF. MY. LIFE.

I do weird crap like that all the time. I don't know why, but it is like I feel BAD for the thing I'm getting rid of.
