How to Easily (and Cheaply) Fragrance Your Car

So, I recently purchased a car air freshener. I eagerly popped it out of it's 534 layers of plastic and clipped it to my passenger side visor. Didn't. Work. And yes, I made sure it was "installed" properly. It just didn't dispense any fragrance.

So, I decided to brainstorm. And improvise.
You need the following supplies: a Ziplock bag, home fragrance oil, cotton balls, and scissors. Make a few cuts on ONE SIDE of the bag using your scissors. After that, pour a bit of home fragrance oil onto a couple of cotton balls. I used Coconut Vanilla oil from Bath & Body Works. Put the cotton balls into the bag. Put the bag somewhere in your car. I put mine under the passenger side seat, but if you have nosy kids you could put it somewhere else.
I've only had mine in the car for a few days... but it's working fabulously so far!! Love it!!

Hey, Sarah,

Nice blog! It's cool to see someone in college with the determination to venture off Facebook and write a blog!

Here's what my dad did for a car freshener—he always bought the ground coffee for his office in one of those fold-over-the-top bags. He kept one pound ahead of the game, so he always had a pound of fresh-ground coffee in the backseat. That smell was incredible. To this day, when I smell fresh-ground coffee, I think of my dad.

My car smells of whatever perfume I last wore, spray sunscreen, the last fast-food drive-thru we went through and pink grapefruit car deoderizer spray. It's unusual. I might try the pink grapefruit spray on the cottonball idea—the more low-maintenance the idea, the better!

Cool! Thanks for the tip. I am tired of the expensive scent hangy things that stop smelling after one day! I will totally try this :)
