LOFT-y Monday

I had grand plans of blogs this week... but I worked almost 12 hours yesterday (by my own damn choice) and today I have to travel to Indy for work.  Can you sense the yawns through the computer?

Anyways, I never knew how long it took to put together a shopping/outfit post until I did one.  And let me just say that I'm in a time crunch but I'm curious for honest opinions... pretty please?

Ok, so @theratpack07 reminded me a week or so ago that I needed white cocktail dresses for the inevitable "year leading up to the wedding" stuff.  And I was 2 steps ahead of her but totally agreed.  Enter an awesome LOFT sale last week.

I ordered 2 sizes in each dress... although it's become clear to me that "vanity" sizing doesn't even come close to describing the LOFT size skew.

PS. Please don't judge the wrinkles.  I ACTUALLY STEAMED THE WRINKLY ONE... they were just mangled from their mail travels.  I believe it can be remedied.  Also, the shoes are the shoes I'm wearing to work in 15 minutes.  So judge away, whatever.  I know they don't necessarily work.

First off, the bigger size white dress.  Small-ish waist belt didn't much help the situation.

In theory, I like.  In actuality... meh?

So I sized down.  Left, unbelted.  Center, added a thicker belt.  Right, it's a weeee bit slim on the old thighs.  Maybe they'll be smaller next year?  (Hahahahahahahaha omg just died laughing.)

So the white dress(es) above... it's probably not built for my shape.  But it's white and very bachelorette party/bridal shower/etc.  I'm guessing I'll need 2-3 for events next year.  Hopefully in the summer cause omg the pale.  This 5 am photo shoot hides the paleness cause of the indoor lighting and darkness.

And then we have the 2nd dress.  It's an antique-white/peach color.  Can't really be describes.  The fabric has a beautiful silver metallic all through it, which really lends itself to awesome accessories.

Not sure that photo helps at all.  I tried!

And the dress.  Without a belt (and the included one is hideous), it's a sad sack (LEFT).  Center and right, a little more details and with the necessitated belt.  Featuring the Ring That Made This All Possible.

So, be good internet friends and tell me how awesome and ugly the dresess are.  BE HONEST.

Hopefully heading with the BFFs tomorrow to Indy for a full day of shopping and decompressing.  Good vibes for all of us please?  We are all very well but anxious for some stuff going down tomorrow.

Thanks for the opinions and finger-crossing for good news.

HAPPY MONDAY!  xx

So I definitely like the second one WITH the belt..it's actually quite flattering and could be dressed up or down nicely. The first one I think kinda comes down to how well the wrinkles come out..it's cute, but just not laying right, I think it would be really cute without wrinkles though..I also think a silvery belt would be really cute with it, or something with some embellishments!

I'm not a fan of the first one - it doesn't do much for you. I think the second one is great, though! Fun to accessorize, plus it looks fantastic on you.

Not a fan of the 1st one, love the 2nd one.

I like both dresses WITH the belt... I think you'll be more comfortable in the second one-- it seems to move better. I would like to see different belt choices decides the black-- do you have a brown or a blue one?

Is it weird that I saw that first dress at the store & almost sent you a pic?! I was in a hurry & got distracted. I'm glad you discovered it!

Neither are big HITS in my book (though the second has potential) and for pre-wedding stuff you need definite HITS! Photographs galore of you in all these outfits that will live forever!

Can I tell you I havent been to Loft since I moved to LA. They dont have any - BUT a new one is coming to my closest mall in november and I'm going to be the their best shopper.

I think I have to do with option #2 (p.s).

Also - I have your email flagged so that I can respond, so I should be getting to it today. MISS YOU! xo

Love the second dress WITH the belt. I wish I had found something like that when I was looking. Definitely a keeper!

I'm going to have to be different.. I actually really like the first dress in the first picture with the belt. I actually first thought how tiny it made you look. Then read all the comments. I'm sticking with my gut though.

Oh boy, the white dresses! I wish you lived closer, because I now have a closet full, my wedding is over- and when in the next ten years can i wear a white dress? The only events I have coming up are wedding related events. Such is life. I would recommend Rent the Runway for rehearsal dinner or an event where you want a really special white dress- but it actually ends up being just as expensive as buying a moderately priced dress (except you get to wear an expensive dress)- so it's kind of a trade off. But then you don't feel guilty having a dress hanging in your closet.
Anyway, I actually like the first dress best with the black belt. I think it's flattering... but only if you feel comfortable in it! I know it's stressful but try to enjoy the process :)

haha you are so sweet for the shoutout! I'm an enabler.

Okay so you were right. The first one is meh. I did look better with the belt though. But I love the second one with a belt way more!

My only advice would be that you don't need to convince yourself to wear white. It's safe to assume that at most, if not all, of these events you'll be the only bride there so if there's a color you love and that photographs amazingly, wear it. That's the important thing, that you feel gorgeous, because if being a bride doesn't make you feel gorgeous, not much else will (in my opinion).

I like the first one with the thinner belt and, believe it or not, the second one beltless.

You are smart to start looking for dresses now. I feel like I spent HOURS online during the summer of my wedding looking for the perfect white rehearsal dinner dress. After a lot of duds, my mom found one at Macy's and texted me a picture, and that was it! I like both dresses but I think the second one is more flattering. I say you wear what you want. For my bridal shower, I wore a colorful maxi dress and I'm glad I did because I still love that dress and still wear it. Good luck!

Love the top one!!! I now realize I'm going against everybody else comments!! Makes you look teeny tiny (although you already are!) with that black belt!!
