Carbs. With Butter.

Consider yourself warned, this is my carb addiction showing.

A couple of months ago, my dad accidentally bought self-rising flour at the grocery store. When he offered to take it back and exchange it for the non-self-rising flour, I felt like a jackass because I had taken a permanent marker and circled all over the front of the flour his mistake.

Oops.

So I've been staring at this flour for a hundred years trying to do something with it.... and the snow this week finally gave me the push I needed to bake.

So I baked one of my default favorite things: biscuits.

Baking Powder Biscuits
1/3 cup shortening (I use butter)
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2.5 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup milk

Unlike other baked goods, you have to follow the directions with biscuits. So annoying.

Heat oven to 450 degrees.

Cut shortening into flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

Next, add milk slowly. This mixture should be thick and kind of hard to stir. I usually use a sturdy wooden spoon.

Then, turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead 10 times and then press the dough half an inch thick.

Mmm, dough.

Then you could use a biscuit-cutter (or the bottom of a drinking glass) to make nice round biscuits... or you could bust out the pizza cutter and make quick work of cutting up square biscuits.

Bake at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes, depending on how brown you like your biscuits. I like mine a bit pale.

Smother with butter. Inhale.
Whine about how none of your pants fit.

Isn't that deliciousness??

Carb heaven.

Have a great weekend everyone!

1 12oz can of room temp beer

such an easy go to recipe and quick! Good to eat any time of day- awesome with dinner foods, but still good with some jam for breakfast. Hope you like it!
