So here's the story.
A girl at work has been dating her man forever. He's been away doing Army things for.... over a year now. Maybe almost 2.
They have a sweet little girl who's just over a year old.
And despite the the fact that girl and I work retail together and life has been insaane these past few weeks.... they decided to get married. On Tuesday.
Four days from today.
I think I've figured out her old/new/borrowed/blue. Her dress is new. I am bringing her a pin that my my mom received as a gift when she was a little girl, attached to a piece of blue ribbon, to put in her bouquet. Old/borrowed/blue. Check.
The wedding will be in a cabin/farmhouse so it's not a religious ceremony... but I need your help with music!
She still needs the bridal/father entrance song and the exit song and I'm stumped. They need a first dance song but I think she might have come up with one last night...
Come on all you wedding pros... I know most of you were married in churches... but hit me with your best song. No song is off limits!
Ready set go.
And thank you.
(And no, it's not a shotgun wedding. Trust me, I asked.)

12 Classy Comments:
I got married in Cabo, and they said they would play traditional wedding music which turned out to be rod Stewart " Have I told you lately" that was my walk down the aisle music which is still pretty damn funny!
I love the song, Father and Daughter by Paul Simon. It's so fun for that sort of thing. I walked down the aisle to NOTHING because our music malfunctioned, but it was going to be "auld lang syne" since we got married on the beach on New Year's Eve last year.
We had the Peanuts theme song (Linus & Lucy) for our recessional, as well as "All You Need is Love". I love "Lucky" by Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat and wish I had that song for my wedding.
I love Michael Buble for wedding songs. Very classic and romantic. Maybe "Hold on" or "You belong to me"? Good luck!!
My number one piece of advice is to get your mother's pin back off of the bouquet immediately following the ceremony. Do.Not.Lose.Sight.of.Bouquet. You never know who is going to walk away with it at the end of the night, or even if it might get left behind to be trashed, or if she uses it in the bouquet toss or simply fall off. Just trust me on this one!
My father/daughter dance was Frank Sinatra's The Way You Look Tonight. My dad told me 10,000 times how beautiful I looked, so it fit the moment well. Our last song at the reception was...? I think it was Ben Fold's The Luckiest. My songs weren't unique, but I loved em!
Processional song - I was going to use the instrumental version of "This Year's Love" by David Gray or "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol but ultimately went with Canon in D. But I loved those other two. First dance for her and husband or dad? Husband-we used "More than Anyone" by Gavin Degraw (LOOOOVE) and for my dad we used "I lvoed her First" Traditional but my dad loved it.
I wlaked down the aisle to Cannon in D. And I can't for the life of me remember what we used when we left the ceremony.
Have fun and please share pics!
I walked my processional to a song sung by a girlfriend (a Joanna Newsom song called "Ca' The Yowes To The Knowes"), but I also considered walking down to the cover of the Pixies "Here Comes Your Man" by Meaghan Smith. And we walked our recessional to "Golden Years" by David Bowie. But those suggestions may be a bit funky, depending on her taste. :)
I walked down the aisle to Canon in D although that is somewhat traditional but it's so pretty! We all departed to From This Moment On by Shania Twain which is very fitting. Good luck!!
Here's what we used:
SEATING OF THE PARENTS: “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” - Bach
ATTENDANT’S PROCESSIONAL: “Canon in D” - Pachelbel
BRIDE’S PROCESSIONAL: “Bridal Chorus (Here Comes the Bride)” - Wagner
SAND CEREMONY: “The Wedding Song (There Is Love)”
RECESSIONAL: “Must Have Done Something Right” - Relient K (this is definitely a non-traditional song, but the lyrics are awesome!)
Yep, I'm the wrong person to ask! I'll be doing the same thing you're doing when I have a wedding. (maybe that won't ever happen)
I always think that Robin Thicke's "The Sweetest Love" is a perfect wedding dance song :) sooo romantic!
