Sing Me a Song!

Back in the 80s, when I was a wee one, we had this toy electronic phone. If I remember correctly, it used two or three D batteries, which is equivalent to a car battery today.

Depending on which number you dialed on the phone, it would say a different phrase. My favorite (for unknown reasons) was: "Hi, this is Mommy. Sing me a song."

To this day, that phrase randomly pops into my mind all.the.time. Weird, right? Clearly I liked that damn phone a lot.

(And dang you google image for failing me. Can't find a picture of this phone anywhere.)

Ok, have I lost you yet? Anybody?

So my iPod needs a little lift. I added some new songs but not enough to motivate me to run or walk for nearly as long as I need to be doing.

So... if I share my favorites - will you share yours? Pretty please with sugar on top?

My Jams Right Now:
  • Rainbow by Colbie Callait
  • Ridin' Solo by Jason Derulo (hated it at first but my BFF forced it on me... now I love it.)
  • Haven't Met You Yet by Michael Buble (I've had this for SO long but I still love it.)
  • Mine by Taylor Swift (say what you want about the girl.... but I just love her!)
  • Happy by Leona Lewis (I love love this song. For sure it is my #1 jam.)
As you can see... my iPod is where good music goes to die. But I love it anyways.

Spill it - what's on your iPod?

Happy Friday!

I am addicted to "Just Haven't Met You Yet" it's such a good song! I've loaded up my ipod with some 90s music lately, I stand by it being the best decade of music!

I have a lot of 'harder' music on my ipod -- it's keeps me running:

Halestorm
Avenged Sevenfold
Breaking Benjamin
Adelita's Way
'Cowboy Cassanova' - Carrie Underwood
'Express Yourself' - Madonna

Are you looking for good music or workout music? If you're looking for workout music, try the Black Eyed Peas, especially the first album (I don't have the others to compare). I find their beats and rhythms really driving when I run.

I totally had that phone. I know exactly what you're talking about!

Songs I am jamming to these days:

"Anything Like Me" Brad Paisley
"The House that Built Me" Miranda Lambert (really, her whole new CD, Revolution, is awesome)
"Turning Home" by David Nail

And then some always favorites that are my most played in iTunes:
"Case of You" Joni Mitchell
"Gotta Have You" The Weepies
The ENTIRE Wicked Soundtrack
"Free Fallin" Live by John Mayer
"Rain" Patty Griffin

There ya have it :)

I love Taylor Swift too - no shame in that!

Lately I've been on a Janet Jackson circa early 90s kick. Random, I know. I also like John Mayor's "Half of My Heart" and Sara Bareilles' "King of Anything".

The best workout songs are from Rocky most notably "Eye of the Tiger" and "Gonna Fly Now."

Usually when I'm running, I like to play fast songs. So, music from Averil Lavigne, Simple Plan, Pink or Katie Perry to give an example of a few and even Leona Lewis too! But, when I'm at home, I like to listen to slower music like Colbie Callait and Jason Mraz.

Right now, I'm loving La Roux - Bulletproof, Taio Cruz - Dynamite, Sara Bareilles - King of Anything, and pretty much anything by Taylor Swift.

I also love Michael Buble's version of "Feeling Good" and "Sway".
