Remember a month or so when I had a bajillion books to read?
Really, I had plenty of books.
Fast forward to today and I am about to finish the last book in that pile - American Wife.
Side note: who told me I had to read American Wife? Because you were SO right. It's a long book and I'm finishing it in only a few days! Good choice!
I know I still need to read the Sookie Stackhouse books... but other than that, my reading list is empty!
I also know that I want to read more Mary Kay Andrews books - I just love her books!
So... hit me with your best shot! What are you reading? What should I be reading?
(And you should know, I really prefer only frivolous, chick lit novels. I tried to read The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Society and failed. I just... couldn't do it. I need some romance and shopping up in here, stat!)
What are you reading this week?
(Or, what's your favorite book ever? Mine is Tuesdays with Morrie.)
32 Classy Comments:
My all time favorite book is the Sunflower by Richard Paul Evans. Easy read, but the story is fantastic!
Have a great week.
I am assuming you have read all of Sophie Kinsella's books (shopaholic series and more), but those were some faves of mine! The author, Sophie, wrote under her real name, which I am forgetting at the moment and those books were pretty good too.
I also am a BIG fan of Chelsea Handlers books, and I hope they serve beer in hell (if you like inappropriate and a bit raunchy books, haha).
the potato peel book? It got highly recommended to me as well, I hated it but couldn't abandon it, so I wasted a month on it.
Have you read Jen Lancaster yet? Start with Bitter is the new black and work your way through, you won't be sorry.
I just finished Swim To Me by Betsy Carter. Great easy read! Mermaids, cute crushes, dolphins, oh my! I just posted a review on the ol' blog too!
I still haven't read the Sookie Stackhouse series either. The book set is still sitting on my nightstand enclosed in it's plastic. I'm waiting til we go on vacation to start the series.
I just finished two book in a 3 book series. The author's name is Gail Carriger. The two books were Soulless and Changeless. The third coming out in Sept is Blameless, and I CANNOT wait. I really enjoyed these books. Not normally something I would read, but a friend recommended them. They were pretty good!

Sunday's at Tiffany's by James Patterson is by far my favorite!! Also Sams Letters to Jennifer is pretty amazing as well! (also by James Patterson)
I totally know this feeling! Right now I'm reading Mrs. Perfect by Jan Porter and it is really good.
I just finished The Lovely Bones and Water for Elephants and LOVED them both! I also recently read Weekend in Paris which was only ok, but very chiclit-ish and Celebutantes, which is a fun Chiclit book. Reading The Bell Jar right now, which I'm loving so far... kind of girly so far, but I think it gets depressing later... not sure...
I'm currently reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich (starts with One for the Money) and they are pretty good. I'm on the 8th book and I think as of right now there are like 14 or 15 ... I'm into series' because I love to follow a character once I get to liking them.
I read all of the Sookie Stackhouse series very quickly because I couldn't put them down. I have the next book pre-ordered on amazon because I need it the second it comes out!
I highly recommend The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks and the Shopaholic Series if you haven't read those.
Have any suggestions for me??
I love chick lit books too :) I had to read the Potato Peel Society book for a class last year and it was so hard to get through! I love all of Emily Giffin's books...she has a new one coming out next month and I can't wait!
I second the Jen Lancaster books. I loved them. There are currently four, but she's releasing her fifth book in May. I read the first Sookie Stackhouse book and thought it was just okay. I didn't like it enough to pick up any of the others. (I loved the Twilight series, so it wasn't the vampire thing.)
A few recommendations for chick lit: there is a series of four chick lit/mysteries written by Jennifer Sturman called The Pact, The Jinx, The Key, and The Hunt. They are fun, fast reads. I also like books by Jennifer Weiner, Lauren Weisberger and Lolly Winston. You can check out my goodreads profile for specific titles. Happy reading!
Some of my favorite chick lit books:
* Angels by Marian Keyes
* Sisters by Danielle Steel (I always judged her books in a negative way, but this book was fabulous)
* Best Friends Forever by Jennifer Weiner
* To Have and to Hold by Jane Green
And my personal favorite chick lit novel...ever...is: The Big Love by Sarah Dunn. You have to read it!
I'm currently reading American Wife and I LOVE it! Seriously, I can't put it down.
This probably doesn't fit into the chick lit category (def my favorite genre too) but I got addicted to the YaYa Sisterhood books and read all of them. You might try those if you haven't already read them. Good luck!
I am currently reading "Staying True" by Jenny Sanford. It is totally NOT what you said you preferred... and like you I prefer those types of books as well. But this book is awesome. It tells every detail about her life as a Congressman's wife all the way up until Mark Sanford' infidelity. It is ridiculous the amount of stuff they go through. I didn't think I would want to read it but I stayed up until 2am last night reading. I had to MAKE myself go to sleep. Check it out!

Girl you are a reading queen!!! I'm going to have to start making time to read every day. :) XOXO
P.S. Have I told you lately that I love you. ;)
Did you like the Marian Keyes books? i read "Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married" and didn't really enjoy it...I know one book isn't a reflection of an author as a whole but it definitely makes it harder to pick up another one of her books.
This might sound childish but if you haven't read them, you should definitely read the Gossip Girl series.
I don't know if you've read them but check out Carly Phillips's books. SHe is AMAZING!! I only like chick lit novels too and she is by FAR the best I have read. Only problem is, I've read soo many, IDK which ones I've read and which ones I haven't DEFINITLY check her out. SHe has some series and some stand alone.. I like the series more because they all tie together( and you get to find out a lil more of what happend to the last couple you read about) PLEASE check her out!!!
I just finished reading- Jodie Sweetin's Memoir- aka. Stephanie Tanner. Highly recommend it. I am now reading the Kitty Kelly book on Oprah.
My fave Mary Kay Andrews book is Hissy Fit. You must read it! And you must start the Sookie Stackhouse books. I loved them! Man, I am bossy.
Mary Kay Andrews is a peach and I totally agree with Sweet Simplicity above - Hissy Fit is the best.
It has been a couple of years, but I remember Milk Run by Sarah Mlynowski being really cute (http://www.amazon.com/Milkrun-Sarah-Mlynowski/dp/0373250126)
Posession - A.S. Byatt.
FABULOUS!!
Sookie Stackhouse!!! I haven't had the time to read the seriessss..I want to! That and Vampire Diaries. I like comparing shows to their original books :D
I'm in the midst of Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen and it is a cute southern read. I just stumbled across your blog!
I'm your newest follower! You are more than welcome to visit me over at Southern Belle Simple!

The Help; The Double Bind; The Kite Runner; anything by Jennifer Weiner...
I could NOT get into Potato Peel Society either. My FMIL had sent it to me and said she loved it and I just couldn't force myself to read it any longer...
I'm reading The Help right now and am loving it! If you haven't read it yet definitely add it to your list. I just added American Wife to mine :)
Mr. Maybe by Jane Green, I just started it but I'm having trouble putting it down. As someone else said, Jen Lancaster's books are great. I literally cannot stop myself from laughing out loud when reading them!
I'm pretty sure I recommended American Wife to you on twitter awhile ago...a least I think I did! Isn't it fabulous??? Definitely my favorite book I read last year. So glad you've enjoyed it :)
that is lots of reading!! I'm jealous!
Oh girlfriend, I can give you A MILLION recommendations..let me know next time you are on gchat!
