Project Barbie

As I mentioned yesterday, today is the Project Barbie Party hosted by the lovely Insomniac Lolita.

The whole point of this party is to be pink and pretty and have fun. Which are basically my three main goals in life, so count me in!

My only dilemma in participating is the fact that I only have one pink dress. And it’s the one I wore to high school graduation. Me, almost 5 years ago before my high school graduation:

HS Grad

I was seriously cute back then, that’s all I’m saying.

So, almost 5 years later and at least 20 pounds later, that’s still the only pink dress I own. But I was on a mission to make it work! (Especially since I couldn’t find any pink dresses in stores that I liked!)

So it was my goal to make this dress winter-friendly and a little less sugary-sweet than it was at my high school graduation.

First, I experimented with bad hair, bad indoor lighting, purple shoes (center picture)…. it just wasn’t the best look.

But I did get 1 semi-winner. You know, in college I was well-known (by three or four people) for my ability to make anyone look good in front of the camera. Whether by helping them pose or smile better, I could totally make it happen. I believe that skill requires practice and I clearly need some practice. Anyways, 1 indoor shot that I liked:

No clue what was happening with my face… and I kinda look short, but whatever.

And then I went to the snowy outdoors and fell flat on my butt. Literally, I have a picture of me completely down on the ground. Awesome. No I’m not posting it – I look like an idiot!

At first I thought I could “make it snow” and pose at the same time. Not so much. Where did my shoes go? Photo fail!

And then my favorite shot. I almost deleted this one because I only took it by accident. But it’s my favorite picture.

And that, friends, is my official Project Barbie submission.

On that note, have your friends ever not told you how bad your hair looks? Like the fact that you haven’t highlighted your hair since September and it’s looking mighty rough?

Yeah, I’m calling the salon today. Hopefully they can squeeze me in for highlights. Because that hair has got to go.

Hope you all enjoyed me playing dress-up! Feel free to join in the Pink Dress party!!

Happy Wednesday!

The fact that you can still fit in it is pretty awesome in and of itself!

I participated too after reading your post yesterday. Sadly, I had to use an old pic which doesn't show my whole dress. But it was fun doing it;)

You are so cute in that pink dress! I would love to join the party, but I don't own a pink dress. I know, gasp! Pink is my favorite color, but I don't wear it well. So, i'll just live vicariously through you!

How adorable are you? And I'm with the other girls and yourself - love the last picture! I've had fun seeing all your girls' submissions for pink stuff - I own approximately zero pink items, so alas, I could not participate, ha!

I love it when you play dress up for us! LOL

Very creative way to winterize a summer dress! I vote "WIN".

PS, I haven't gone to the salon since two weeks before my August wedding. It just hasn't been a priority lately. This morning I was definitely noticing my huge roots!!! I am with you on the need for some salon time!

You are too funny! I love the Project Barbie idea, that sounds fun. I mean hey, we have to find a reason to keep those old dresses in our closet right?

Did you say you were cute back then?

Trust me, time has done nothing to diminish your cuteness.
