The Year of Sarah

It's finally 2010 and while I do not like to make resolutions, I do like to have a focus or a goal in mind at the start of each year.

And this year, I am declaring 2010 The Year of Sarah.

The year where I refuse to ride on the coat tails of a life that isn't mine and and grab the reins of my own firmly.

The year where I don't hang back because I am embarrassed or nervous, but do whatever I feel like because I am enjoying myself.

The year where I stop spending $50 a week at Target and TJ Maxx and instead spend money on a few nice things - like a new camera and maybe a new computer that isn't missing its period key.

I saw in the local paper today that the economy is showing signs of recovery, and I sincerely hope this is true. I would love to find a job this year that not only is semi-enjoyable (humor me, people) but gives me a sense of purpose and fulfillment. I want to contribute to a life that is not my own.

I'm sitting here saying that 2010 should be The Year of Me but what I'm really wanting is for this year to be happy. I know that there will always be times of sadness and grief, but I am just hoping against hope that 2010 is a year of joy and love for my friends.

I'm praying for all the growing babies and growing love stories. I'm praying for safety and stability for everyone's jobs because I know firsthand how much being unemployed sucks.

Dear Universe,
We, the collective we, could really handle if 2010 was a great year. I promise I will do good deeds and do my best to contribute to help make the world a better place. Please send good juju my way. And to my friends as well.
Love,
Sarah

What I'm saying is this: a year of happiness and success for me wouldn't make me all that happy... but what would make me happy is a year of happiness and success for all of us.

To 2010: may it bring us more joy, happiness, and success than we truly deserve - and that we share it all with others.

I love you all - Happy 2010!!

2010 has got to be better than 2009. I don't know of a single person that thought last year was good. and I'm not even talking about the economy.

I also hope you get that job this year! You deserve it :)

And as for the camera, it's worth every penny you save for it. I've got a Nikon DSLR, and it's been one of the best purchases ever. You'll be glad you saved! But I know how hard saving is. I spend my money on way too much junk when I should be saving it for valuable things!
