Snowpocalypse 2010

For the past few days, the local news has been hyping The Great Snow Storm of 2009. Last night they showed people at the grocery store buying French Toast Kits (eggs, bread, milk... apparently the necessities if you get snowed in).

This morning I woke up excited to see snow covering everything... and I saw grass. So apparently the snow is still coming... but I'm disappointed. I just want to see SNOW - like a real amount. I know it's a driving hazard and blah blah blah.... but I just wanted to wake up on a wintery morning to snow. Is that so much to ask? Apparently yes.

----------------------------------------
So just this past week on Twitter somebody alerted me to Goodreads.com. And I'm kinda obsessed.

On Goodreads you can keep track of books you've read and also track the current books you're reading.

I know I haven't talked about it here in a while, but you all remember that I'm book obsessed, right?

This was the corner of the bedroom at my old house:
And that's not even all of them (although I have donated or sold most of them at this point... I just couldn't keep up!).

So I am hoping to share my favorite books this coming year on here... but if you're a bookaholic like I am, feel free to join me on Goodreads - I'd love to see what you're reading!!

And if you don't want to join Goodreads - tell me what you're reading. I'd love to know! I'm currently reading The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews and I am absolutely loving it! I'll probably finish it today while waiting for the snow to show up.

Happy Thursday everyone!

I've been seeing a lot of people use Goodreads lately. I may have to sign up.

You have any recommendations for books/writers that are similar to Confessions of a Shopaholic? And have you ever read Melissa Nathan? She's not bad but she's no Sophie Kinsella.

Oh my, we are sisters in our bookj obsession!!! My room is the same way...I brought in 4 giant boxes to the office in December to give them away just to get some space back in my house! Now, I have two stacks piling up again! I just finished "Dear Neighbor, Drop Dead"...HILARIOUS! Excellent read!

OMG....you should be the one with a book blog, not me! LOL. Did you read The First Assistant and The Second Assistant? LOVED those.

Oh my Lordy woman! Look at all those books! LOL! I have been a member of Goodreads for a couple of years now...but I have not finished the last couple books I started. I need to get back on that bandwagon and since I am going to be on maternity leave for three months it may be good for me to pick up some reading materials! And YES for snow! Please come!

Your book pile looks like mine, I love it! I always have piles of books around, it makes me happy. I keep thinking about joining a book swap online, but they never have titles I want.

Ha - we joke about people getting snowed in and eating only French Toast too!

I really liked the Fixer Upper - have you read others by Mary Kay Andrews? Savannah Blues and Breeze? Right now I am reading the Luxe Series by Anna Godbersen. It's a series of 4 books kind of like Gossip Girl at the turn of the 20th Century. They are meant for teens, but still good!

I just approved your request on GoodReads. I totally forget about it sometimes. I just updated again this morning. My bachelors is in English Lit, and I can't begin to remember every book I've read. Ha! I need to upload a pic.

Thank you for posting about this! I'm always up for a GOOD book, but I haven't read one for a while. I'll have to check this one out. I don't do a whole lot of reading anymore, but my husband does and will love this website.

Oh my goodness, have you ever thought about using the library? It's my best friend because I love reading and don't have to pay a dime for it!

I have seen a great snow storm in 2009. Dec. 2009 in Baltimore was ridiculousss - 15 inches! We were snowed in for 2 days. I am done with snow already. But I hope you get some soon!

I love reading too - Chelsea Handler's books are funny. But lately I've been obsessed with Nicholas Sparks. Maybe I'm a hopeless romantic lol

I'll have to join you on Goodreads.com

Have you ever been to Paperbackswap.com?

you can trade books out for new ones with other readers like you! I've gotten some good books through that site. It's free- you just pay for postage when you send a book to someone and then you get credits to borrow new ones!

Hope you don't mind me stopping by your blog! :)

That's a lot of books! That's how my roommate and my living room looks.

I'm over the snow. We had nearly two feet of it while I was home in Nebraska. I've had my fill for the year! But I hope you see some soon :)
