For the Love!

So I was up all early this morning and I had such a FABULOUS post idea.... and then I couldn't remember it.

Off I went to the doctor, where she told me I had high blood pressure. "Are you a high strung person?" she asked.

Internally I was all "Bwahahahahahahhahahahaha" but I said "well, you might say that."

So she tells me that I need to check my blood pressure a few times at those little blood pressure chairs that are in random places like drug stores.

Next, I have an errand to run at the mall, which is connected to Target. Off I go. And because I know that there was a blood pressure thing in Target, I stop there first.

Only there's no blood pressure thing anymore. Fabulous.

Do mall errands.

Leave mall. Head to Meijer in hopes of locating a blood pressure machine. See cuff... and at the exact same time, so does a 5-year-old boy. He walks over to it, bends down, and...

BARFS. Pukes his guts out.

So I promptly grab a bag of frozen broccoli, some oranges, and leave the store.

I bet if I took my blood pressure right then, it would have been sky high.

So if you think I went to Wal-Mart to see if they had a blood pressure cuff.... you'd be wrong. I drew the line.

Seriously, isn't it humiliating enough to be seen checking my blood pressure like a 72 year old woman? (Which, no doubt, raises my blood pressure.)

I give up. Is it 9 pm yet? I need Grey's and wine, STAT!

Updated to Add: Grey's and Private Practice are repeats tonight. WHY!?!?

Ok - your update just made me cry a little. Re-runs?!?! SERIOUSLY?????

And I've had doctors tell me the same tings about my blood pressure before, but it's fine...just something to be aware of.

I've had to do the same thing. They just want you to watch it. Just do it the next time you are out. I wouldn't make any special trips for it.

You know what I hear all the time. That my good cholesterol is too low. I exercise every day and eat 90% healthy so obviously it's not all my fault. They don't get that I guess.

Sorry you have repeats tonight. Hopefully you'll still have some wine. :) XOXO

They said mine was high today too! Just the top number, not the bottom number, and then the nurse was "Well, a lot of people are anxious when they see the doctor, so maybe that's what's up." Pft.

And reruns. Srsly? I am sad. Boooooo!!!

After all that maybe you should just buy one. :) I hope it doesn't become a problem.

I miss Meijer.

I'm sorry to hear your blood pressure is high... I hope it's not serious and that you find an unpuked on cuff soon! xo

There are a couple things that doctors recommend for lowering b.p. (apples, exercise, a glass of wine, yoga). I suggest immediately doing some shopping (walking around the mall is exercise). While you're out, pick up some new yoga pants (for all that yoga you'll be doing). And follow this up by making yourself an apple martini (apples and alcohol). Perfect solution!

I am so upset about Grey's and Private Practice - thank you for keeping me in the know. I too have been told I have high blood pressure everytime I get it taken. They never tell me what to DO about it though, other than relax.

I was so not expecting him to barf, yuck! Where were his parents??!! Hope you get your blood pressure under control old lady! ;)

Oh my gosh!ewe! That is funny...but narsty at the same time! I am ready to go home too...I need to watch me some TV and eat a brownie :P I am sure that would help with blood pressure right?

No fun, I'm sorry. Your timeline post is kinda funny though. And I'm surprised that the Dr. suggested using those machines. I used one a couple times when I was pregnant and I freaked out because it was always REALLY high. Then at the Dr.'s office I would let them know and I was always told that those machines are bogus.

I hope your blood pressure gets better soon. How about some soft yummy wine and good book this evening?

Poor poor you! From all your running around your BP probably would have been high today anyways! How eventful though!
And yes, Greys is continuously letting me down w/ all of these little breaks!

I have the exact opposite problem. When I go to the doctor, they always tell me my blood pressure is a tad low.

And yuck on the barfing. That sucks

I couldn't help but laugh when you get to the point in the story where the kid throws up all over the machine. Gross, but funny. (I apparently have the maturity of a 5 year old.)

Bummer about the repeats tonight!

I think they are repeats because February is sweeps month and I think they are holding off until then for new shows.

As for blood pressure what helps is magnesium (it really does).
Check with your doc.

ROTFL You poor thing! There was nothing new on TV this week other than House and American Idol.

I am dying as I sit here reading this. Seriously. Dying.

Those machines always give high readings! I'm actually surprised they suggested you use them. You'd be better off hanging around a local school & asking nursing students to check your BP for you - trust me, we're usually desperate to practice our new skills! Let me know if you have any questions on lowering it! Hope you still enjoyed your wine :)

icky!! i remember playing in those when I was younger! you were probably just having a hectic morning when they doctor checked :o)

That sounds like my life everyday!!!! One exception, my bp is always super low...my doctors always ask if I eat, if they only knew how much I eat!

I hope your bp improves :)

Wow...what a day! I'm sorry , but it's kind of funny that the boy threw up. It's so random! lol

If I lived nearby, I'd bring you another bottle of wine probably with a box of chocolates. This week isn't good for my blood pressure either.

ewwwwwwww,... just goes to show you that those things are covered in germs. Buy an electronic wrist cuff.

I have an electric BP cuff that also reads my heart rate - I got it for a great price off of Amazon. I have the opposite issue, but I love my monitor. Plus you can always bedazzle it!
