Talkin' About My Teeth (And Givin' Away the Goods!)

A couple of weeks ago, Whiter Image asked if I might be interested in trying out their products and hosting a giveaway for all of you.

So I agreed to test drive a couple of Whiter Image's products... and here's how it went.

These are the 2 products I tested. The blue box, on the left, is the ToGO Teeth Whitening Pen. The red box, on the right, is the Chic-Flic Teeth Whitening Pen and Lip Shine Plumper, which is a combo of the whitening gel and a plumping lip gloss.

For the most part, I used the Whitening Pen because it was out of the box first.

The pen was easy to use. I usually wiped my teeth dry with a tissue (I know, that sounds gross and like I am very spitty, which I'm not) and then brushed the gel onto my teeth. It has an applicator like one of those lip glosses that clicks when you twist the base.

I smiled wide for a few seconds after applying the gel to let it dry (the directions recommend 30 seconds, which is a bit difficult) and then went on with my day.

On my first day, I used the pen before meeting one of my girlfriends for lunch (you may remember her as the friend who had a breast reduction in July). I basically forgot about it and met up with her at Panera. As we went to get our drinks, I decided to decline a coke because I was nervous about staining my pearly whites. As I went for the water, my friend says to me, verbatim: "Holy crap, your teeth are white."

I froze in my tracks because I hadn't yet told her I was reviewing this product and I didn't think she was following me on twitter.

And that, my friends, is when I became devoted to Whiter Image. I don't think I've ever been complimented on the whiteness of my smile, even when I used professional trays and whitener in high school, so there you have it.

I used the product on and off for approximately the past 3 weeks. I applied it anywhere from 1 to 3 times a day, but took a break from using it for 6 days during wedding craziness and my awful cold last week.

Considering my inconsistency, I was honestly surprised to see results. The top picture below is my "Before" shot - please notice how you can see some spots on my front teeth from where I had braces when I was younger. The "After" picture is the bottom picture. I was shocked and even double checked with my magnifying mirror - but that discoloration is gone. I've had it for about 6 years - and it didn't go away with professional whitening!

I know the pictures aren't perfect and the lighting is a bit off in them... but it's hard to take pictures of your teeth!

I have only used the Chic-Flic for the past few days and I am actually impressed by the lip gloss.

This lip gloss has a slight plumping effect, but I wouldn't say it's as extreme as plumpers I've used in the past. In my opinion, this is a good thing.

The big, non-advertised plus of this gloss? It's NOT STICKY. One of the biggest reasons I hate gloss is because I end up with very nicely glossed hair (ie my hair sticks to my mouth and I end up with no gloss in my lips and a ton in my hair). The day after I used this I was really impressed with how soft and smooth my lips are - which is saying something for this die-hard Chapstick addict.

Another great thing about the Chic-Flic is that the applicator not only has a built in mirror but has a built-in LED light too! As in, when I'm applying it in a dark car I'll actually be able to see what I'm doing!

I tried to photograph the light but that was a little tough to do... suffice it to say that there is a light on either end of the tube to help you apply the product.

Other than the results, there was one big reason I enjoyed using these products. You see, I have super sensitive teeth. On a good day, seeing steaming hot coffee makes me wince a little inside. I have to brace myself to drink hot tea.

While using this product, I had a cold and ate and drank tea and chicken noodle soup without even thinking about it. With the other whiteners I've used (professional and whitening strips), I have had intense sensitivity to hot and cold food. With one product, it even made my gums bleed!

I don't know what it is about this Whiter Image stuff, but I didn't even think about sensitivity until I sat down to write this post. It gets my seal of approval!

So there you have it. Whiter teeth - quick, easy, and - best of all - painlessly!

So who wants to win a Chic-Flic pen? (If you could feel how soft my lips are -you should be so lucky!- you'd be raising your hand in the air.)

Here's how it works:

I quit trying to whiten my teeth at home because I didn't like leaving the stips or trays on for so long - this stuff sounds GREAT!! - all I currently use is Crest VIVID White toothpaste - which I like, but after using it for 2 years, I don't think it does much for me any more.

I have used professional strength whitening from the dentist, but it's too hard on my sensitive teeth!! Would love to give this a try.

I would love to give these a try. My teeth recently became very cold sensitive, I can barely eat ice cream it's so bad! I've tried the Crest Whitestrips in the past and they've worked great I just always stopped using the strips because it's twice a day and they're kind of gooey!

This is a great giveaway! I hate using whitening products because they make my teeth so sensitive. I will have to look into this brand!

I too used to use crest white strips, but they are nasty tasting! I would love to find a simple easy product and this sounds like it is!

Hi--love your blog! I've used crest white strips but they left my teeth sensitive so I stopped. Thanks for the great giveaway!

Lisa D. said...

Hi Sarah!
I've used Crest White Srips and some sort of Colgate brush-on whitening stuff before. I liked the results of both, but the sensitivity issues were awful! A few years ago, my dentist told me that if I stayed away from whitening products and whitening toothpaste, I'd have less sensitivity for sure. It worked, but I wish my teeth were whiter. :) I'd definitely be willing to give this a try - I'm going to look into it!!

I love using the Crest White Strips, but they make my teeth hurt. I especially love the new Advanced Seal strips, but they REALLY make my teeth hurt! ;-)

I am definitely super interested in Whiter Image's products...especially because you got such fast results without making your sensitive teeth go all wonky! Thanks for sharing!

Ugg, I just don't have the time to mess with messy trays and strips these days. I've got kids to chase around! Plus the cost is a little out of my range right now :)

I would have to say my favorite at home whitening product is Crest White Strips... I have found that they work better than some of the other leading competitors, but I would love try Whiter Image's product... So hopefully I'll get lucky.

Thanks for the chance to win!

I usually use Listerine Whitening Pre-Rinse (or a generic brand, but it usually tastes worse). I haven't bought it since we ran out though so I am in need of a new whitening product!

I've tried some off-brand whitening stuff (the only kind I could afford at the time) and it BURNED MY GUMS! So, I've been a little leery of it since; but if your teeth are sensitive and it works for you, I bet this would work for me too! (Rhyming not intentional ...)

I've used Crest Whitening Strips before and they do work, but the strips often slip off my teeth and having to do it twice a day for 30 minutes can get really inconvenient. I would love to win this, it seems so much easier!

I did professional Zoom whitening right before my wedding 6 months ago and what always stopped me before that was the fact that my teeth weren't straight. But thanks to invisalign that isn't a problem anymore! Now I just need to make sure I keep my teeth pearly white!

I have never tried at home whitening products for fear of them ruining my teeth and the cost associated with them. I would love to try it though and the lip gloss sounds wonderful!

I have the gloss in the hair problem too! Windy days kill me when I wear gloss!

I use crest white strips and have had a little sensitivity but LOVE how white they make my teeth. In fact, the last time I used them was a year and a hald ago and my teeth are still white!

I have used Crest Whitestrips in the past but they're just so expensive to keep up with, I haven't done it in awhile. I might have to try this new product, though. Sounds fab!

I used to use the Crest whitestrips but I could never get them to stay on my teeth quite right. I really liked GoSmile products too but they were really expensive!

I'm following WhiterImage on twitter and you too! My username is @LaurenGoodin

Brigitte said...

I've used GoSmile, a kit with a 7 day morning/night application of liquid to the teeth to whiten. While it was sort of effective, the cost is mighty pricey for white teeth! I think that makes me hesitate to keep trying products in an effort to find one that works.

I rarely enter giveaways, but I would REALLY love to win this one. I've tried the Whitestrips, but I really didn't see much of a difference. I think it is because my teeth aren't perfectly straight so they wouldn't sit right. I think this stuff would work so much better for me.

I've whitened my teeth before. I've used Crest White Strips and Rembrant. They are pricy and I have to wear the strips for a half hour twice a day. That can be annoying. I think it would be awesome to just brush on whitener and go!

I just came over from Heather's blog because I saw you left a comment about being from Indy! I don't live there now but I lived there for about 24 years! I'm from Speedway!

Anyway...I'm actually super interested in this teeth whitening business. I've tried several products with very little success and even had them professionally cleaned...but I didn't see much of a difference. Thank you so much for posting about this product. I will definitely be trying it out!

The whitestrips by crest were just so annoying I just stopped doing it all together. This "pen" thing sounds really neat. I would love to give it a try.

What a GREAT giveaway!!! I use to use Crest Whitestrips but they are pricey!!! I have gotten bleaching trays from the dentist but once you run out..you're out! Lately, I've been washing my mouth out with peroxide...seriously! I dilute it with water and it works but just not as fast! My twitter name is @mwbmwpretty

Sarah said...

I've used the Crest Whitestrips a little, but they seem to cost too much and I hated the way I feel all drooly when I am wearing them. A pen sounds way easier and more attractive to use!

I have used Crest White Strips before, but my teeth must be really sensitive because they started to hurt every time I used the strips. Not cool! I would love to have my teeth professionally whitened by a dentist, but I don't want to pay the money! I hope I win! :)

I have whitened my teeth before with professional stuff from the dentist. It was expensive and hurt my teeth, but it worked.

Since then I have tried 5 Min Plus, you can get it at your local drugstore. I've not been consistent tho and I drink coffee everyday, so I can't say how well it works lol
