Oh, Balls

First of all, I want to say thank you thank you for everyone who left a comment on yesterday's post. I have loved reading your guys favorite posts, so if you didn't leave a post yesterday... go back and leave one, ok??

---------------------------

If you follow me on Twitter you may know that I had grand plans to make cake balls this week.

So eventually with the help of my tweets I was able to locate a recipe for them here that was actually from here.

So eventually I got all the ingredients together (seriously, it took 2 trips to the grocery store...), and the cake balls are made.

Here's how it went down.

Bake a cake mix. I used Funfetti. I followed all the normal directions and baked them in two 8" rounds.

After they came outof the oven, I let them cool for 2 minutes. I'd actually let them cool a bit longer because I think the balls turned out a bit "moist"... and that moisture came from them being hot hot hot. Then, I dumped the cakes into a bowl with a canister of Rainbow Chip frosting.
Then I mixed and mixed and mixed it up. The mixture ended up in a paste.
I took the paste and scooped them in a cookie scooper onto a baking sheet.
I put the sheet in the freezer, which ended up being a mistake. I should have just put them in the fridge. Putting them in the freezer made them "wet" because when I removed the sheet it seemed to condense... just put em in the fridge.

After they were nice and firm, I melted some white chocolate. Then each of the balls went for a swim in the chocolate. I'm not exactly sure how this is supposed to be done. My balls were still a bit soggy, so little bits of them fell off in the chocolate. It wasn't perfect, but it worked well enough.

I then sprinkled the wet chocolate with sprinkles... and voila. Cake balls. They are delicious. Although, how can anything consisting of cake, white chocolate, and frosting be bad? I rest my case.

While we're on the subject of food, I've tried 2 new foods recently so I thought I'd give them a quick one-over for this blog.

Have you seen these Ritz Crackerfulls? Since I saw the ads for them I had been dying to try them, but they didn't have them at my grocery store!

But the stars aligned on Monday and I now have a box of my own. My verdict? Pretty delicious. I love cheese so this was a tasty little treat.

I saw this Pear Yoplait at the grocery store on Sunday. I was a bit skeptical... pears and yogurt? I mean, I love peach yogurt, but I was a bit skeptical about pears.

I was VERY pleasantly surprised and this will be on my grocery list from here on out. Very tasty, and it has chunks of real pears in it! Yum yum.

Ok, who's hungry now??

And if you haven't made a comment on my post from yesterday... go do it!

Happy Thursday!

You can do the same thing to make Oreo balls! I did this for my cousin's lingerie shower - mash up a package of Oreos, mix with cream cheese (not sure how much, maybe a whole 16 oz pack?), turn them into balls and then after they sit in the fridge awhile, dip them in melted white chocolate like you did with the cake balls! They are TO DIE FOR. If you google it you might get a better recipe than what I provided. I need to make them again soon!!
