I Love Reading

First of all, let me just say that being stranded without a laptop definitely frees up a lot of my day for reading. Thus, I have read 3 books since my laptop died 1 week ago.

And they weren't short books either.

First, I read this one:

Soo good! Definitely loved the plot and I just fell in love with the characters. Time Traveler's Wife is definitely a must-read, especially if you are going to see the movie - which I am.

Next up, I read this little gem:

At first, I didn't think I would end up liking it AT ALL. The description kind of threw me off. But I started reading and now I'm hoping they make a sequel to Twenties Girl.

Last but not least, I am currently reading this:

So far, Best Friends Forever is interesting, and I hate putting it down at night. I could stay up verry late reading this one - I'm totally hooked on the plot.

Have you been reading any good books lately? I'm going to need something after I finish BFF in the next couple of days.

------------------------------

Hey, how's that little dashed line for a transition?

Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody reading this had ever had their hard drive salvaged? I have about 2 months worth of un-backed-up data on my laptop and I am thinking of taking it somewhere and having them rescue the files.

Have you ever done this? Where did you have it done? I think I've heard Best Buy does it, but I'm assuming if I find someone local to do it it will probably be cheaper.

Any words of wisdom on the topic would be much appreciated.

Also, I am probably buying the same Dell Inspiron laptop, but when I went to order it yesterday the shipping was a freaking $30 or something insane like that. I'm sorry, but when I'm about to drop $600 some dollars on a laptop, you could definitely throw in the shipping free.

I'm just sayin.

Happy Wednesday!

I had my hard drive salvaged last year when my computer got a huge virus and I had nothing backed up, I got it done at Best Buy and I think it was around $75 (canadian). If you're looking to buy a new computer check out Wal-Mart and electronic stores, the back to school sales on right now are really good!
PS - I have that Sofie Kinsella on my list to read next, I love her :)

All of those books I am going to put on my list. I was already thinking about the Time Travelers Wife, just saw Twenties Girl in B&N the other day and love Jennifer Weiner. Right now I'm re-reading an oldie but goodie, The Lovely Bones... I highly reccomend it.

O and try www.newegg.com they normally have great deals on electronics, I saved a ton of money using them!

I couldn't put down BFF either, but by the end, I didn't feel like I really LOVED the book. Happy to hear about twenties though, I've been hemming and hawing over it.

As for the hard drive, I wish I could help!

I will have to read those books!

This summer I read Something Borrowed and the sequel Something Blue by Emily Griffin. I loved them...I couldn't put them down!

I know NUFFIN' about computers & hard drives...what I do know is that I really need to purchase for myself an external hard drive (the portable kind) for pics & such.

Anyways...reading The Time Traveler's Wife next. I've had the book for a few years, but just never really got into it. I think it's going to be my pick for my next book club meeting.

LOVED Best Friends Forever by Jennifer Weiner...I love all of her books. I read BFF in a day and a half. Craziness...but I just couldn't put it down!

I recently read The Red Tent by Anita Diamant (for our first book club meeting) and LOVED it.

I don't know how to salvage your hard drive but I would highly recommend a external hard drive in the future to back up all of your stuff. I've learned the hard way over a few years so i recommend getting one. Sometimes you can get really good deals on them on Craigslist.com

I got mine on there for $80 and new and it has TONS of storage space on it.

I looooove Time Traveler's Wife! Such a great book! Wish we lived closer so we could go see the movie together :) My favorite book is "Eat, Pray, Love" -- if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. Someone just recommended "Life of Pi" to me - I'm starting it tonight, so I'll let you know how it is!

When my old computer died a couple of years ago, I was studying abroad and my dad was trying to work on it. So, sadly, nothing was backed up. However, at Best Buy they salvaged the whole harddrive, and transferred the whole thing to an external hard drive--it's basically like a flash drive, only gigantic!

I'm so annoyed...I wrote you this long ass comment on this post yesterday and then something went wrong. So, now I'm bak.

Anyway, we could prob. be best friends with all the similarities we have (blonde hair, stupid ex boyfriends, reading style) hahaha.

I LOVED Twenties Girl and Best Friends...I'm still waiting for my library to get Time Traveler's Wife in..but I cannot wait!

We have such a similar taste in novels! I'm so happy you liked Time Traveler's Wife... that's next for me. I am working on the Lucky One by N. Sparks. So far it's good!

Oh, summer, I love you for providing me with excuses to eat way too much ice cream and read way too many books. If you're looking for the 'frothy' variety, these are two of my faves, that I inevitably pull out when I have pool/beach time on my hands:

"Summer Sisters," Judy Blume (yeah, that's right Judy Blume...just read the first chapter. BAM! Hooked!)

"Jemima J," Jane Green (couldn't put it down)

Good luck with your move & stay fabulous!
