Ok people, long time no post.
Did you hear about my minor incident? Perhaps the swift hit to the floor actually made my brain be all kinds of crazy. Who knows though, I might just have the gift.
Anyhow, my week was a blur of activity and homework (ugh, the homework!).
On Friday, C and I attended a banquet for the football program he works for. It was long but fun. Don't we look cute?
Then on Saturday my roommates and some friends (and I) attempted a Photo Shoot - one of my favorite school activities. A Photo Shoot consists of everyone planning on showering and being presentable at a set time. Then they arrive to the set destination about 1 hour late (primping takes time, you know) and proceed to take one million photos in the hopes of getting some winners.
This was our attempt at a roommate photo. I am on the left, being a dictator - as usual. The rest of the cast is goofing off, as usual!
And this was our attempt at a big group photo. Honestly, I am disappointed - we've had much better photos in the past. :-( This one is just okay and it's a little blurry to boot. Where did I go wrong?!?! All in all, it was a blast of a weekend but it makes it that much harder to get to work today.
Today I need to:
- Tan for upcoming wedding duties
- Send out invites for the bachelorette party
- Call into my part-time job back home and make sure they don't schedule me for the wedding day
- Write a speech about a social movement. Anybody have anything interesting? Seriously, I have no topic and the speech is in.... 30 hours!!!
- Write a paper, 8-10 pages long, about Pretty Woman.
- Finish a take-home test.
- Schedule a final for Thursday or Friday.
- Prepare a presentation about Autism.
Well, I think that's all....
Have a fabulous week if you don't hear from me again!!

The Apartment: Revisited
Remember way back when I promised a well-written post about my beautifully decorated apartment? Yes, if you click you may notice that my post was written in August. And it's now December. If that's not called follow-through then I don't know what is!
The original post had pictures of the whole apartment, but of course it wasn't clean or organized enough to photograph. So this is just my room. Without further adieu: My bedroom - from the doorway:
Again from the doorway:
From sitting on the bed:
From behind the desk:
Recognize this little guy? Looks pretty good if I do say so myself... and I do.
2 of my favorite things in the room: the hanging shoe pouch to help hold my products...
And my cute shoe basket!! I just love that basket! Too bad those black shoes are nasty dirty from some nasty dirty bar!
One of my favorite things hanging on the wall above my desk. And a gratuitous leopard-print lampshade pic. Because I can. (I bought the lamp at one of my fave's - TJ Maxx for something like $20. My brother says I got jobbed but I say he doesn't know a good leopard print when he sees one.)
I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your tour of my bedroom. Now don't get fresh or I'll kick you outside and make you stand in seven three inches of snow!
Anybody have any suggestions on further decor or amenities I should add? I have some letters that need to be hung on the wall, as well as one of my favorite quotes that I painted on a canvas. All in due (read: late) time, my friends. All in due time.
Posting will be sporadic at best for the next 3 weeks while school tries to ruin my life.
Happy Monday (almost Tuesday)!!

I Somehow Forgot to Mention How Awesome My Roommates Are...
Ok, so about 2ish weeks ago was my birthday. And then I dropped the subject and completely forgot to tell you how awesome my roommates are. Seriously - even though they (meaning 2 of 3 of them) can't wipe a counter or scrub a toilet, they are awesome.
So when I got out of bed on my birthday this sign was hanging on the wall over our big framed picture. (Notice the classy editing job I did. Why do we all refer to ourselves by our last names? I feel like we're channeling a middle school gym teacher or something...)
The sign reads:
Dear Sarah,
We know you love to shop and will fill any GAPs (Gap gift card here) in your day at the mall. So we thought we'd help you take your next shopping trip to the Maxx (TJ Maxx gift card here). You might Target (Target gift card here) a particular item when you head out, but we know you'll come back with a few more than that. Happy Birthday girl! We love you and just want you to remember that even though you're turning 22 is doesn't mean you can't party like you're Forever 21 (Forever 21 gift card there).
Love,
Your Roomies
Isn't that adorable? I just love it and don't have the heart to take it apart - I might have to keep it up all year. Until I feel like spending those gift cards...
Also on my birthday, they hung up signs of the Top 10 Sarah-isms. AKA, the annoying things I say and do.
Allow me to share:
10. She read it on a blog so it must be true.
9. She is most productive between 5 and 9 am (when all her roomies are still snoozing).
8. She can recite the lines and do the dance moves better than Hugh Grant in Music & Lyrics.
7. She has two boyfriends, one of whom is the maintinance man for our building. (Long story on that one!!)
6. Mandatory photo shoots when the seasons change.
5. Martha Stewart's got nothing on her. Give her some PVC pipe and some spray paint and she's off. (Ohh yeah, I still haven't showed you our decorated apartment - only our hallow cave of an apartment on move-in day. Still working on that one!)
4. Even though her roomies talk about how they can't eat anymore because they are SOO FULL, she always bakes another dozen cookies.
3. She choreographed a dance to Steve Martin's King Tut routine, put it on YouTube, and has a fan from the Netherlands. (25 points to whoever can find the video!)
2. Because she's the boss... (Well, can't argue with that one!)
1. Because she's so classy. (Well, might argue with that one!)
Don't I have the best roommates?
In other news, I FINISHED MY PAPER. Now my phlem-hacking self can finally get some sleep and maybe do anything other than hang out in the library.
Total Library Hours since Friday: 29!!
Happy Monday!!

Work It, Work It...
So once I arrived at school, I promptly forgot to take photos of the 'before' apartment. I know, I just have no brains left. Anyways, here are the photos I captured as I was moving my ton of junk in.
This is my bedroom from the doorway.
This is my closet - most important room in the house!!
This is the right side of the kitchen.
This is the left side of the kitchen.
This is the right side of the living room.
This is the left side of the living room - or as other people would call it our kitchen table.
This is the entryway. We are already having trouble figuring out how to jazz it up a little bit!
Hopefully on Monday we will be clean and organized and I will have many pictures to share.
Have a great weekend!

A Crafting Fool
While I am on vacation, I thought I'd show you how I went craft-crazy before my vacation. You see, I am planning on covering the walls of my lovely new apartment in a very short period of time, and I must be prepared. This is my story.
Step 1: Find some fabric you like. Doesn't have to be fancy, but a pattern is good. I love black and white, so therefore I love this one. Step 2: Find some canvases at your local craft store (actually, some Wal-Marts carry them as well. Not my favorite store, but whatever).
Step 3: Cut the fabric with a generous hangover to fit your canvas. I just eyeballed it.
Step 4: Find an appropriate place to use spray adhesive. Or just throw a trash bag on the back deck and call it a day. Done.
Step 5: Shake the spray adhesive like a polariod picture.
Step 6: Spray on the adhesive to the canvas. You could do the fabric as well.
Step 7: Attach the fabric and the canvas. Be sure to rub the wrinkles out of the fabric if you forget to iron it. Oops.
Step 8: Use a staple gun to attach the ends of the fabric to the back of the frame. (Ok, I was proud of this step - so so proud).
Yours should be as beautiful as mine, but if it isn't don't get down on yourself, ok? We can always try again.
Voila! Instant wall art! AND it was cheap too - I think less than $13 for the canvases, fabric, and spray adhesive!!
Hope everyone's having an awesome week!

A Gift for a Friend
On August 16th, I will be moving in with three girls to an apartment for our senior year of college. Last year, one of these girls told me a quote that she wanted to have displayed in some artistic fashion on her wall.
The quote: "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and I'm wearing a fabulous new outfit." Umm, can you say LOVE?
So for quite some time, I had planned to make her one. And planned, and planned, and planned. So I did and here's the result: Oh, the ugliness!! The hideousness. The straight-up blah of it all just about killed me. So I sat on it (ugly) for a couple of weeks, and one day I was at JoAnn fabrics and stumbled upon the most amazing little things.
These "fabric quarters" are little sample-sized squares of fabric that might be used for quilting or some other, better purpose.. but for $1.50 I had to check them out.
They turned out to be the most amazing fit for the ugly quote "painting", so I used a bit of spray adhesive to stick the fabric to the board. Add some hot glue to secure it to the back of the frame...
And then I painted the quote on... and I made a mistake, of course. See how the "I'm" on the second line is capitalized - and shouldn't be? Yeah... ugh. Is the mistake bad enough that I should fix it?... I'm not sure. And now that I'm looking at the photo - is it me or does it seem like the words may be slanting downhill? Opinions, interweb pals? Please?! Fix it, don't fix it??
I should just suck it up and make another one.. but I was SO HAPPY to have it finished... only to begin again, I suppose.
Happy Thursday - and wish me luck. I am in vacation-packing hell.
