Instead, I am feeling the flames of my own stupidity this morning. Quite literally.
I rarely tan my back and I decided that, yesterday, I would make a concerted effort to get some sun on my back.
I put sunscreen on the most vital parts that I normally have trouble with - face, chest, arms... and then I laid on my stomach for 6 hours with a friend.
I would really like to show you my thighs so you can laugh as I get to stuff them into jeans for work today... feeeeeel the burn.
I am normally a friend to sunscreen but the unseasonably cool temps had me convinced that I wasn't getting much sun. Wrong-o, friends.
So I did try on a few of my recent purchases last night... but the pictures are beyond terrible because I was in so much (whiny) pain that I wasn't much for the changing clothes or the photo-taking.
New purple Express dress.... which I love, except the arm-holes are rather ginormous. I have a feeling I will always feel weird about these arm-holes.
I got the most amazing gray sweater at LOFT for only $15 last week. Seriously amazing. And seriously scorching with a sunburn.
Despite the horror of this picture, I will be wearing this top all fall (I got both colors) with leggings. It's long enough that it covers my butt. SCORE.

It does have a ruching-effect on the sleeve which is a little bit strange... but eh, I'll live with it. Or cut the elastic off of it.
And then I bought myself another bathrobe. Because the 3 I have just aren't cutting it and I like options.
Oh your poor back! Sunburns are no fun...feeling your pain!
ReplyDeleteOh man...I am not looking forward to my first sunburn of the year, but I know it's going to happen. Hope it gets to feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel any better, I just bought two shirts I really don't need...
OH!! Poor girl!! I hope that burn heels fast! Ouch!!
ReplyDeleteWhoa girl! Sunburns suck! I saw on my beloved pinterest the other day someone took aloe vera and froze it in ice cube trays, so they had nice cold aloe vera to rub on their sunburn. So smart!
ReplyDeleteYour clothes are super cute!! I need to get to VS stat!
i have a terrible lower back burn because i was painting outside on a service trip in louisiana and didn't lotion my lower back -- but in my defense i was WEARING CLOTHES - full t-shirt and shorts. apaprently they didn't meet and my back is scorced.
ReplyDeletei feel your pain!
Oh no! That looks SO painful!!!! Aloe Aloe Aloe!
ReplyDeleteOh dear girl...you don't realize the damage your doing to your beautiful skin. I am 40 now and throughout my twenties i tanned and now i see the age spots and premature aging of the dermis. Use lots of aloe and stay out of the sun!!! Sunscreen!!!
ReplyDeleteVitamin E Cream, works wonders on sunburns!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteoh no :( poor girl. put some aloe vera on it :-)
ReplyDeleteEek! Sunscreen is your friend! I generally don't put it on my legs either, though, unless I'm on a float trip where I know the tops of my thighs will be exposed.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I feel your pain. Hang in there, hopefully, under that burn is a beautiful tan.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh girl!! I hope it turns into a gorgeous tan fast!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, owie!!!
