A couple of weeks ago, during the Chicago Bachelorette weekend, I came to a conclusion.
We spent the late evening shaking what our mommas gave us at a bar (the Hangge-Uppe for you Chicago readers). Twenty minutes into the evening, I realize that A) I am far too sober and B) that my feet are killing me.
Not a little bit, a LOT bit. As in, I don't think I can make it to a cab outside bad.
Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that I have to A) develop a drinking problem or B) never wear these shoes again.
I got these shoes for my 21st birthday from my college girlfriends. Another girl and I share the same birthday and they put together two boxes of identical gifts for us - only one was sassy and over the top (me) and the other was much more girl-next-door.
These shoes have enjoyed numerous bachelorette parties and nights out, which might explain what happened to the back of the right shoe.
I'm a little scared that retiring these shoes means I may never wear impractical shoes ever again, but I'm sincerely hoping that's not true. I'm too young, right?
RIP, Leopard Skank Heels. October 2007 - March 2011.
I am certain there will be more impractical shoes in your future; you just learn to make sure you have valet service door-to-door to minimize the whole walking thing. With age comes knowledge and, yes, sensible footwear.
ReplyDeleteum.
ReplyDeletein memoriam?
I had to give up a pair of my favorite shoes a few months ago, it was a sad, sad time.
ReplyDeleteI heart those shoes- even if they did hurt you :)
ReplyDeleteOhh, those are cute shoes! I find the cuter the shoe the more painful they are to wear.
ReplyDeleteHooo those are cute shoes! That's too bad!!!

Those shoes are amazing. But I can see how they would hurt! I wish I could wear fun shoes, but alas, I have come to the same conclusion as you, that I need more sensible shoes. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAs I've gotten older (read: slightly more responsible), I've had to give up a lot of the super cute shoes I love because they simply kill my feet.
ReplyDeleteMy mom often jokes that she knows I'm an adult now that I'm wearing "sensible" shoes, which makes me die a little inside... but, you know. After pinching a nerve in my foot from wearing sandals as I spent an entire day walking around London, I guess you could say I learned my lesson the hard way. And now my feet are thanking me.
Even if they're not nearly as adorable as before.
Kudos to you for wearing them this long!
ReplyDeleteDo you know what your feet look like when you're 80 and you've been wearing tall high-heeled shoes for the majority of your life? It's not pretty!
